Old WIP from a forgotten LP story from Texas' perspective, as well as a personal Headcannon for Germany

[I like the idea he took part in Mensur fencing, generally with academic fencing like that in Austria and Germany, getting marks on your face was the point, so I imagine as a younger nation he would have done things he saw as honorable, and mature.]

A big part of Germany x texas for me is that they are incredibly similar deep down, they detest themselfs for harm they've done, and take misguided, often contradictory, actions as a way to assuage guilt (often the subject of occasional arguments) texas is a very human-centered character, who envies the freedom of humans to take action over their own lives, while germany sees people more as juvenile, inexperienced and untrustworthy, leading him to pour his efforts into legislature to control the population (using their own system, mind you)

I have big thoughts abt them 😭😭😭

I also find it delightful that Bavaria and southern germany culturally shares alot of characteristics with texas, that being the general jovial attitude and hardworking farm-folk.

I liked the idea of my texas OC struggling with insomnia and some sort of post traumatic stress (and drinking/smoking problems, to boot) to the point that she stays up days at a time ruminating and consequently feels sort of ill.

To me, night time in Texas feels scary and alive, mainly in the countryside, hours from the main cities. You are often so far from any help, and its so dark, except for some mysterious lights off in the forest, it could be a house, or just a bare streetlight. I wanted texas to have this kind of night time anxiety and feel more on edge at night, but still have a sense that she's comforted by its solitude.

My selfship often feels like more of a deeply committed friendship as opposed to a straightforward relationship, which gives me more leeway to examine Germany and Texas' behaviors as characters.

I imagine when Germany is visiting Texas during one of her spirals, she contemplates waking him, risking looking foolish to hopefully clear her mind with the help of her most trusted friend. If she does, he accepts to help with no hesitation, but falls victim to sleep anyway, and Texas is left alone again.
