The Party + PJO Cabins
(with explanations and other characters!)
Mike Wheeler - Ares
In seasons 3 and 4 specifically, Mike can be seen as very hot-headed. i think that is what ultimately led to my decision to put him in Ares over Athena. this is definitly NOT the only reason though. Mike shows great loyalty to his friends throughout the series (even if it was dimmed down in later seasons... a lot...) and he just wants to protect those close to him. He is also quite good at coming up with plans and I can see a lot of battle strategy in the plans he makes. Mike is also the self-designated leader as the paladin, even if he isnt actually the leader. finally, he is also very stubborn ESPECIALLY towards authority as we see in his interactions with Hopper and his own parents.
Will Byers - Hades
I feel like this was the MOST obvious choice but i fits so well it could not be any other cabin i fear. While Will very much has the nickname zombie boy (and damn doesnt that just make this perfect) there are SO MANY reasons Will would be a child of Hades. He is constantly put into peril in a way that could only happen to a child of The Big 3, as well as constantly being connected to a monster made OUT OF SHADOW!! He is also just a quiet kid compared to the others and has self-isolated and kept his problems to himself as a way to try and protect others. the upside down is also kind of like how other people in pjo universe may see the underworld. (maybe the abyss would be seen as Tartarus? not sure i didn't think that much about that comparison). He also has a blessing from Iris for his art skills because she wants him to at least have some color in his life.
El/Jane/011 - Jupiter
El quite literally could not be a child of anything but The Big 3, due to this it was more of a process of elimination. I honestly had a hard time deciding if she was more of a Poseidon or Zeus kid, it doesn't help that we don't see as much of her personality as other characters. Going off of the personalities of The Big 3 kids in pjo though, i think she is closer in personality to Thalia than Percy. First, the shared trait she has between the both is that El is fiercely loyal to her friends. so much so, that she would put her life on the line to protect them. quite like how Thalia risked her life to protect Annabeth. El also strives for a sense of control in her life that she hasn't experienced in the past. we can see this on multiple occasions; in her fight with hopper, her grapple of not having powers, and finally being able to choose her own ending. El is also a complete unknown to the other kids, which is why i would instead put her in the roman camp. with all my thinking about Thalia it reminded me about Jason, who does in fact share a good amount of backstory with El. They were both taken from there home as babies and put in a place that runs on discipline and rules. and because of this they both have a quality of independence to them where they dislike being confined. quite like how you are unable to confine a storm. Like a storm, El is also prone to Anger, which is a very common trait in children of Zeus or Jupiter. we can see this in her outburst at the roller rink as well as other occasions. So honestly I would put her in either but my scale is more tipped to Jupiter.
Dustin Henderson - Hephaestus
out of everyone in the party Dustin is way more of a builder, he builds multiple contraptions that are very important throughout the series. Besides the obviousness of that though, he is a little bit more skilled in the machine department than the emotional one, as we see with him getting advice from Steve on multiple occasions. we also see this with his lack of communication and self-sacrificial nature in relation to his guilt season 5, he instead takes to building things his friends need such as the tracking devices and location stuff.
Max Mayfield - Hermes
come ON!! she is literally the parties zoomer. in her first appearances she is a new girl from California, which also gives the impression that she has possibly traveled more than the other characters probably have. Hermes kids are also usually gifted in deception which i think applies to Max for a lot of season 4, because while the other characters know something is wrong with her emotionally, she is very much hiding what the actual problem she's having is. she uses her sarcastic nature and quick tongue to push people away as opposed to how a Hermes kid would usually use it to be a trickster but i still think it counts.
Lucas Sinclair - Apollo
Lucas is a sharpshooter through and through, which is a Apollo cabin specialty. I think this talent shows in his gift with a slingshot as well as playing a sport that requires aim like basketball. Apollo kids also have the gift of foresight on rare occasions, and while i don't think it is a trait Lucas may carry as it doesn't really come up; it definitly gives some weight to his "i don't believe in coincidences" line. Lucas is also the most charismatic of the party, he's the one who is able to get with the popular crowd and he tries to elevate the popularity status of the party as a whole by doing so. I also think that Lucas is emotionally driven, especially when it comes to Max. Which is why he's willing to risk his life with the demodogs just to keep playing max's song.
Nancy Wheeler - Athena
Nancy is always willing to put her life on the line to get down to the truth of something, she is constantly dissecting things to get to the bottom line. also when Jonathan says he hates reading her stuff because she just wants him to agree? that is soooo Athena kid. I will say i think she has a blessing from apollo for sharpshooting just cause i think that's fun.
Jonathan Byers - Hades
For one, i just couldn't see Joyce having children with two different gods. for two, Jonathan also just fits the quiet, broody nature of a Hades kid. I can definitly see a lot of parallels between the di Angelo siblings and the Byers siblings. Jonathan slightly fits the role of Nico more when it comes to the story line, just because he would literally go to a different dimension/fight monsters just to bring will home or keep him safe. He fits Bianca pretty well for everything else though, seeing as he takes over the fatherly role in Wills life for a long time.
Steve Harrington - Aphrodite
I honestly cannot see Steve in any other cabin. He's charismatic, popular, and very attractive. Aphrodite kids normally are not seen as fighters but he breaks through that stereotype multiple times throughout the show, very similarly to how piper breaks almost every Aphrodite stereotype throughout the books. While i do believe he would be in the greek cabins, he does have traits of Venus such as Care and Nurturing that shows with the way he interacts with the party, or more specifically Dustin. Aphrodite is also the goddess of procreation and Steve wants his 6 little nuggets.
Robin Buckley - Hermes
as a Hermes kid Robin is a very hyperactive character, despite how aloof she seems a first. she speaks very quickly and it seems like her brain runs a mile a minute. Hermes is also the god of Language, Translation, and Speech, which is great for Robin because she is fluent in 4 languages and her ears are "little geniuses". Robin is also the one who delivers the code for the drops through the radio, right under the militaries nose, which is very deceptive, another Hermes trait.
Kali Prasad/008 - Hecate
Hecates whole schtick is manipulating the mist and illusions, need i say more honestly. i will say more though. Hecate children tend to be very mysterious, and there is honestly a lot of mystery surrounding Kali. she tends to keep secrets and she gives a lot of people a very untrustworthy vibe (or at least hopper)
Billy Hargrove - Nike
Billy is extremely competitive and does not settle for second place, he wants to dethrone 'King Steve' and be at the top of the social ladder. Children of Nike tend to be on the rougher side, even including children of Ares. and I don't think i can imagine a rougher character than Billy that we actively see a lot of in the series.
Eddie Munson - Dionysus
There is nothing more theatrical than being a dungeon master besides actual theater. Dionysus kids also usually have some control of madness, which would be a good reason for chrissy to come to him when she feels like she is going insane and seeing things. Dionysus is also famously the god of alcohol andthe vine, which i think could easily go into other substances such as the kind Eddie sells.
and these are ones i have explanations for but wont go into:
Joyce Byers - Dionysus
Jim Hopper - Athena
Chrissy Cunningham - Aphrodite
Erica Sinclair - Athena
Holly Wheeler - Human Seer (Oracle) (a Rachel Dare situation)
Henry Creel/Vecna/001 - Zeus
Argyle - Demeter
Barbara Holland - Satyr
Suzie Bingham - Athena
Vickie Dunne - Apollo

I normally don’t like social media/youtuber AUs but I just came up with a really unhinged one that I feel compelled to subject y’all to.
So, Stephanie’s a podcast girlie. She started one to rebel against the constant pressure to stay out of the public eye and not do anything to make her dad look bad by saying a bunch of things she know will enrage the public (like “peanuts the pocket squirrel is overrated”) and having controversial guests. As it took off, she really started to enjoy the financial independence and attention/validation it brought her, eventually moving to LA to do it full-time.
Grace has a fundamentalist channel (not unlike Girl Defined) where she basically just spouts purity culture bullshit. She’s controversial and while she does have a decent amount of people following her unironically, most of her views are hate watches and she gets a lot of her engagement from commentary channels dunking on her. One of those channels is run by none other than Peter Spankoffski - most of his content is nerdy/science based stuff and that’s his real passion, but he needs to make rent and the videos about Grace are what get views and money.
Stephanie decides that having them both on her podcast would make for one hell of an episode and they agree to do it. She asks questions she knows will get them riled up and cause arguments. It escalates to an all-out screaming match at some points, but the second the cameras are off Grace completely switches up, just totally calm and unbothered. Then she hits on Stephanie, which really confuses the other two. It turns out she’s a grifter - she hasn’t bought into the things she preaches on her channel in a long time, but she keeps it up for the money and because she’s been doing it for so long she doesn’t know what else she would do. Steph and Pete both get it so they’re just like “oh, cool, respect.” Pete invites them to a party hosted by his friend Ruth - an aspiring actress and popular lifestyle vlogger. Her real dream is live theater, but she has a lot of anxiety and she’s way more comfortable talking to a camera and posting online than performing in front of a crowd. The few roles she has gotten have been less about her talent and more about using her following to sell tickets, which is a big insecurity of hers.
At the party, they run into Max, who has one of those awful prank channels where he’s an absolute menace to the public and Richie, his camera man (they met and became unlikely friends in college. They started the channel when Max got an injury that kept him from playing football and had a crisis over what to do with his life). Richie can’t believe this is what he’s using his film degree for and he constantly tries to get Max to pivot to more serious content. The six all get to talking and realize they all grew up in Hatchetfield (Max went to Sycamore in this universe. He was still a literal monster and bullied everyone there, but Hatchetfield High was safe). They talk for hours about all the strange occurrences they noticed back home and the fact that they all suspect some sinister, supernatural forces are at work there. Eventually, they decide to travel back there, investigate and exploit their findings for content in the most epic collab the world’s ever seen.
and you may have brought a gun, but it’s hatchetfield 🪓
i'd like to imagine that in a tgwdlm movie, the audience would be able to tell who is a part of the hivemind because the infected would be aware of the camera. this could imitate the feel of being an audience for a musical performance, with the added bonus of an extra layer of creepiness.
during numbers like "la dee dah dah day" the singers would be making direct eye contact with the audience for the vast majority of the song. there could be a scene where greenpeace girl is looking at the audience while paul confusedly tries to figure out what she's seeing, and as the camera pans, her eyes follow it, while paul's stay looking where the camera originally was. in "not your seed" the singers' awareness of the fourth wall would be less pronounced, since the lyrics are directed at bill, but it would still be noticeable. paul's involuntary dance moves in "let it out" could be accompanied by him looking at the audience and then blinking and shaking his head as though trying to stop seeing it. in "inevitable", the illusion of a happy ending is maintained until, when paul begins singing, there is a shot aimed at emma's back and, as paul hugs her, he looks into the camera.
Their love is inevitable.
esther backpack blueglasses would survive every hatchetfield apocalypse
Genuinely love Spies Are Forever for giving me the best lovers to enemies ship I've ever seen. Also hate Spies Are Forever for giving me the most tragic lovers to enemies ship I've ever seen.
That’s so weird @ghostface-knight because..??!
the lords in black are so interesting to me because. they’re so us. we’re watching the citizens of hatchetfield suffer for our own entertainment just as much as they are. we’re their accomplices in all of it
pokotho made hatchetfield into a musical because musicals are entertaining. and we ate that shit up! it’s soooo fun watching a little man scramble as the world around him bursts into song. the musical genre is satirized because pokey knows how the genre conventions work just as well as we do. we like watching musicals so much that black friday and npmd are musicals, too, even though they don’t revolve around pokotho’s plans as much as tgwdlm. we want them to sing. pokotho does too.
bliklotep is the audience and the audience is bliklotep. trail to oregon calls the audience “the watcher with one thousand eyes” and that’s not all, in watcher world blinky seems to be able to see through the eyes of anyone and everyone who loves spectacle. he wants to see the characters go through angst because WE love angst. it’s fun to watch alice and bill express their buried frustrations. blinky wants it to end in bloodshed because he loves tragedy, and let’s face it, so do we. it’s like that one post about how hamlet is aware of the audience and is angry that we don’t do anything to intervene because we want to see how it plays out. personally, I think blinky could have stopped the woodwards if he really wanted (he’s an elder god, after all) but alice shooting him shifted the narrative so that the emotional payoff would be more fulfilling if they escaped. and blinky loves a good story.
t’noy karaxis has blorbos. we joke about it, but that’s really what it is, isn’t it? he’s the fan who watches the movie again and again and again and again to see his favorite character’s dramatic death scene. he’s the guy who writes and reads angst fics by the hundreds because he likes to see his faves cry. he’s the hatchetfield enjoyer who’s on the edge of their seat waiting to see how ted kicks the bucket this time. the bastard’s box is pretty much just an ao3 account filled with whump and hurt no comfort. he’s sadistic AND he genuinely adores ted, because we fans are often cruelest to the characters we love the most. he puts ted through character growth— the realization that his life went the way it did because of his own mistakes, his inability to be vulnerable with jenny before it was too late— and he does that by writing a 56-chapter angst fic that’s still updating to this day
nibblenephim is the fan who voraciously devours every scrap of content that a creator produces and demands more, more, more. let’s face it, the fandom will never let starkid rest until we see this story through to its end. and then someone will demand a sequel series. nibbly is hungry because we will never stop yearning for more stories. he’s simple because that desire itself is simple— as humans, we need creativity like we need air to breathe. nibbly wants more because we want more. and we will never be satiated.
wiggog y’rath is the ruler and the king because he’s the self-inserting writer. I think jon matteson plays paul *and* wiggly for a reason— wiggly is the only lord in black to be played by the same actor in every single show, and that actor also plays the protagonist of tgwdlm. wiggly wants to be the protagonist. he tries to force himself into the human world of hatchetfield because he wants to participate, dammit! he wants to be the bestest ruler that the earth has ever seen! everyone has to love him because he’s going to be their bestest fwiend! when he appears in human form he’s gonna be the prom king! he’s the ebony dark’ness dementia raven way of the hatchetfield multiverse. he wants every human character to bend to his whims and to love him and to put him at the tippy-top of planet earth because he’s the writer and the writer’s main character, you fuckheads, and he can make whatever story he wants, whether the other characters like it or not! if you’ve ever written a self-insert story? congratulations! you’ve been wiggog y’rath.
and the funny thing? I don’t think the lords know that they, too, are as fictional as anyone else in hatchetfield. maybe blinky knows— he sees through the audience’s eyes, after all— but I don’t think the others do. if they did, maybe they’d be a little less tyrannical. a little bit nicer.
but then the starkid writers wouldn’t have much of a story to tell, would they?
