Welcome to: my very incoherent rant about Episode 4 Season 2!

Major spoilers ahead! Read at your own risk! (Will proofread later, very tired rn)

I wanna start this post off with the positives before I spiral into insanity. (Side note: I won't be crafting many theories myself in this post, mostly because I often don't like making conclusions based on conjecture, I will more so talk about details that could mean something and that I think is worth thinking about.)

So to starts this all off:

Subaru was so cute!

He was just so excited at the beginning about the anomalies! It was so cute! I love him so much!

I loved seeing Yuri being all confident again

I have nothing major to say about this, just that I really enjoyed seeing Yuri being all full of himself again. I've been thinking too much about his vulnerable moments that seeing him confident felt so refreshing.

Jiro was so cute as a kid!

Despite calling myself a Kirisaki brothers' fan, I am typically extremely biased towards Zenji. So it came as a bit of a surprise that I found Jiro so cute as a kid. I just wanted to pick him up and pinch his cheeks.

The Kirisaki brothers' backstory in general

I don’t have a lot to say other than it pretty much confirms what I have been speculating that their childhood was like. That they weren't that well off financially/possibly neglected and that they didn't have many moments for small joys like eating candy growing up. Also the fact that they probably relied on each other a lot. I do wanna point out that Zenji not having his glasses back then could be interesting to look into.

Saburo was already named Saburo?

Thanks to tsukapples on TikTok (who keeps the tkdb time line in order), we know this episode takes places before Episode 18, which, if you remember, is where MC gives the doll Zenji carries around the name Saburo when Lyca asks for it. Going off my memory, I remember thinking Zenji's reaction to that name being strange. But now it feels even stranger since he called the doll Saburo before this. (The reaction to MC calling the doll Saburo in Episode 18 could just be him being happy that she remembers his name) but Zenji was startled that MC heard him call the doll Saburo. Why is that? Something to think about.

Haku is not being slick

I've seen some people now started to speculate that the spy is Elias but I still firmly believe it's Haku simply because of how anti-anomaly he is. Sure, he used to be in a sympathisers house but he DID transfer to a dissident house right after the Clash. I just find it hard to believe someone would do that naturally if they still held strong beliefs that aling with the sympathisers. The Clash is over, yes, but not the way it has affected people's bonds. But back on topic. Every single time the others had something negative to say about Darkwick or something positive about anomalies, he was SO quick to shut it down. I'm just saying Haku, you're not that good at hiding the fact that you are Darkwick's little errand boy.

Is that where the people who died at Darkwick (due to missions or the Clash) get buried? Is Zenji's name on one of those grave stones? I WANT TO KNOW MORE

Them alluding to Zenji's childhood

I just wanna point out that Zenji says "To think a family like this exists even in this reality..." It could be alluding to the fact that Zenji is familiar with families like the Ikedas. Again... something to think about...

Zenji still not telling the truth

I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR ZENJI TO TELL US WHAT’S GOING ON AFTER EPISODE 24 AND HE'S STILL NOT DOING IT??? I KNOW THIS IS IN THE PAST, BUT I'M STILL PISSED!! C'MON, I WANT TO KNOW, YOU CAN'T JUST JINGLE INFORMATION IN FRONT OF MY FACE LIKE THIS, ZIGZAGAME!!!

Fucking everything going on with Hyde

First of all, I'm definitely not the only person who doesn't believe Hyde admitting information to the Sinostra ghouls was "just an accident". I still believe he did that on purpose.

Second of all, did something go wrong when Hodge and Podge favoured a student last time???

Third of all, Hyde is (partly) to blame for Professor Moby, Hodge and Podge looking the way they do??? They used to have another form???

Fourth of all, Hyde has the bracelet (that I think is the same one Romeo dug up from a grave and later gave to Hyde) with the same insignia as Kaito's necklace??? And it's the insignia of the House of Ardici that used to be great but has now fallen? (They could how honestly already talked about that but I do not remember it so it's basically new information to me)

Fifth of all, Hyde needed to take a nap because he used his "eye" too much? What kind of abilities does this eye have that makes him tired and why did he need to use it?

Sixth of all, Sho needs Hyde? What can of relationship do they have where Sho would actually need his older brother around?

Seventh of all, Hyde used to work at a place called "Victor Institute of Artificial Anomaly Research" and seven years ago he was a part of an accident there that made the higher ups loose their trust in him? And that caused him to switch jobs?

About the Institute

It was honestly interesting to hear that they have a hard time reaching newer industries. It made me remember that we don't know that many details about The Institute.

Also, it's interesting that it's classified for the professors to talk about any missions they have gone on...

Taiga what?

Maybe "projects" has another meaning I'm not aware off but genuinely what does this mean, Taiga? What does this mean, Taiga?

Glimpse into Shiki as a person

Nothing too worth digging into, in my opinion. But Elias did say "If Shiki was here, he'd pass out just hearing this..." after the characters found out they'll be in a death game. So for those interested in the mysterious character Shiki might want to keep this piece of characterisation in mind.

What Taiga and Elias said

I just find this moment really interesting because it says a lot mo matter who you believe in this situation. If you believe Elias, then what kind of relationship did Taiga and Elias have in the past that makes Taiga believe he's a lot smarter and more capable than he is? If you believe Taiga (which is what I do, because Taiga has mostly been depicted as being right in his beliefs and Elias has been shown to be someone who tries to come off as a lot more docile and incapable than he actually is), then who does Elias think is watching them and why isn't he saying anything about it?

Not much to say about this other than I wonder if this was an excuse by Haku to enhance his stigma in that moment.

Two things to keep in mind in the future

First off all, the order they got their cards might be important for figuring out who the Rogue is. Also the fact that Ritsu said the staff seemed flustered after he got his card. But also the fact that most ghouls (especially the ghouls there) are hiding what their stigmas do.

Whenever my friends talk about something that requires seeing things from other people's perspectives and caring about their feelings, I get reminded that I am inately self-centered and selfish.

My friends tries to pull the "are you thinking what I'm thinking?" move and in my mind I just go "no, unless you were also thinking about that what I said 5 minutes ago surely made you believe that I am so intelligent but also very humble. And if you're not convinced? Well, I just have to bring it up again because the second time you cannot be that dense to not see the obvious".

Here's comes a section I like to call: Some niche-ish pieces of tkdb merch I wish existed

Because honestly, this game is extremely merch:able and I'm pissed ZigZaGame hasn't taken the opportunity to make any of these yet.

(Disclaimer: I do not want to hear anyone talk about how these things would be unrealistic because of xyz, this is just me, as a fan, dreaming about cool merch ideas)

1. The house lapel pins

I think they're more subtle and nice and could go along well with regular outfits. The lapel pins are a unique part of their school uniforms I'm sad we can't have them ourselves. And plus, cosplayers would love them!

2. The house ties

Again, cosplayers would love them! But this is mostly just me being biased, I love ties and collect them. I often wear them in my regular outfits so I would love subtle merch like this where I could wear something tkdb related and no one would bat an eye.

3. Said it before and I'll say it again, the artefact chains as keychains!!!

Preferably they would be 3D so they would look as closely as they do in the game as possible. But honestly? Just having 2D acrylic keychains of their artefact chains would be cool too.

4. Shion's deck of cards

I think we all have noticed at this point that Shion's artefact (which is a deck of cards) have unique designs on them! I think it would be cool if they sold deck of cards with those designs on them, it's something practical (if you're like me and like card games) to use with other people while still being tkdb related.

5. A tarot card deck using their year one birthday cards

I think you could fill in the missing tarot cards using illustrations of the anomalies, but honestly, wouldn't this be so cool? They already did the tarot card with the birthday cards so why not make a deck out of it?

6. Replicas of the more unique pieces of jewellery

By this I mean like, Subaru's wisteria earring, Haku's earrings, Kaito's pendant, etc. Because it includes all the things I love in a good piece of merch, it's subtle, it's practical and, cosplayers would love it!

7. MC's wanted poster as an actual poster

I just think this would be funny to have in my room. If there existed a high quality photo of the wanted poster I would have already printed it out and hanged it up in my room.

8. Student ID cards

Someone already made fan-made ID cards but I just think it would be cool to have both the ghouls ID cards but also being able to customise your very own student ID card with your house and everything.

What Kaito said in Episode 24

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 24 FOR THOSE WHO HASN'T PLAYED IT YET

I tried to keep the title vague as to not spoil anyone who hasn't gotten to read Episode 24 yet, but this post is about Kaito's last words before he dies and about how I think they fit him as a character.

Right before Kaito dies, he utters out one last wish, that wish being "all I wanted was some ordinary happiness" and as I was playing through that chapter I couldn't help but think it was just so him. Of course Kaito would say that, it's practically all he's ever been about.

Ever since the prologue Kaito has talked about how he wants to go back to being human. How he never wanted to be a ghoul in the first place. Sure he decided to attend Darkwick but he avoided the main conflict, the Clash, and he didn't go on missions. Despite being a special admission student, he tried live his life as a general admission student. Why did that change? Because of Luca and MC. It was Luca's encouragement and Kaito's desire to help MC that drived him to strive away from the ordinary. It was Kaito's love for MC, that originally probably just was attraction or a shallow crush, that made him want to save her. That love that had turned deeper, not just romantically but also turned into love for MC as a person, that made him sacrifice his own life for hers.

But still, he never wanted any of this. He sacrificed his own dream of an ideal life for other people and that's also how he died. So, as he was dying, he couldn’t help but think back on what he truly wanted. Just some ordinary happiness. He just wanted to be ordinary.

That's why I love his last words so much, it felt so fitting and natural. And it really ties his whole character together.

The fact that even his eyes are like wisteria petals, dreamy, soft and peaceful, brush against your heart each time he blinks. His eyelashes flush slightly like a paintbrush grazing the skin of your inner palm, making you melt a little and drift off a little while his soft laughter travels like honey to your ears. Before anyone asks, yes, I do indeed look at him as though he hung the stars and painted the night sky which is why I wrote Duality.

He enjoys having tea and some snacks while listening to the soft sound of rain falling on the roof tiles and watching delicate petals drift with each breeze, kissing his skin and scattering through his soft, silky light brown hair.

Such an angelic, fairytale prince... truly a sight to behold!!!!!!

Love seeing someone else describe Subaru as something uniquely beautiful. My friends keep making fun of how often I seem to worship him, glad to see I'm not alone.
