In a shocking incident early Tuesday morning, a gang of five to six masked and armed robbers broke into the residence of Dr. Mahendra Ghanekar, a senior gynaecologist at the North Goa District Hospital, in the upscale Ganeshpuri area of Mapusa. The family—Dr. Ghanekar, his wife Dr. Anuradha Ghanekar, their 14-year-old daughter, and his 80-year-old mother—were held hostage for over two hours between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM. The robbers tied up the family members using bedsheets and gagged them with pillow covers. Despite their threats and intimidation, no one sustained serious physical injuries.

Robbers Take Tea and Snacks During Heist

In an unsettling twist, the robbers reportedly asked Dr. Ghanekar’s elderly mother to prepare tea, which they consumed along with fruits from the refrigerator while the family remained bound and gagged.
