Idk if its a sign that I'm too emotionally invested in fictional characters if I think I can tell when someone is writing/drawing a character because they genuinely like them vs because they're trendy.

Personality changes/being turned one note, character design changes where you wonder why they didn't just draw an OC, never talking about them before/after, etc

Like sometimes I see art of idk, Bowser or Rocket Raccoon and even if its objectively high quality it feels like they were drawn for the sake of being drawn or because they're popular at the time.

Idk, maybe I'm just being stupid and gatekeepy.

Still been messing around in Guitar Hero World Tour the past couple of weeks and it's only now dawning on me that nearly all the screenshots I take are of Wrex.

Genuinely, whoever originally modded him in did a phenomenal job, his facial animations are incredible. Also helps that he's super photogenic so he always looks awesome in them

I feel like the point where you realize that you *really* like a fictional character is the moment you start coming up with scenarios where you can be nice to them by using the saddest possible reading of their actual character. Especially if it makes zero sense as to how they're portrayed in official media. For instance;

Bowser in every official bit of media: "Har har, I love being evil! My son is awesome!"

Me: "Oh my god he seems desperate for any kind of genuine companionship and nothing he does ever seems to go his way, that must really eat away at him deep down. I want to give him a hug and tell him that things will get better. He just needs an actual friend"
