In the process of moving I happen to find one of my sketchbooks from 2023 and found some old doodles of my favorite BioWare trash.

Before we get there Wrex is stressing us af, he's like "where are you??? get there!!!!!!! hurry!!!!!!!!!" but right when the real work is about to start, suddenly he's just:

Because he wants Shepard to know they're FAMILY and a champion to the krogan people BEFORE the genophage can be cured. He said it himself: "no matter what happens".

It means even more because Wrex knows the genophage might not be cured. Things can fall apart. The plan with Kalros is insane. So Shepard has to know, even if they fail, how much they matter to him.

Thinking about wrex and Shepard like what if this squishy thing who’s species is nothing more than an ant under your boot cared about you, loved you, showed you empathy and kindness beyond anything your species had come to expect.

What if they supported you without question, threw their weight against forces that had kept you down for literally a thousand years, even when they needed that power to win a war.

What if they looked up at you with bruised eyes and an even worse heart and handed you a species for your entire future, the future you thought your species lost forever and asked “will you help me?” As if it was ever a question of your loyalty to them.

What if this one human whom you love like a family you never actually had, whom you love more than your blood, dragged themselves through the muck and blood and wore themselves down until they were holding on by frayed nerves and broken nails brought you to their planet and thanked you for being there.

As if you wouldn’t have gone to hell and back for this human, as if you aren’t one of the few to know she sings off key when she’s drunk, she dances like a one legged varren, she builds models and loves animals and she cares so, so damn much about the people around her.

Confession: God I need Wrex's ass on my face as soon as possible... I know he's aware of the weight difference and make sure I don't get injured, I just know at and need him to back it up on me

I love this dialogue between them and the very gentle way Wrex answers "Uh-huh. All right."

Doesn't mean things are resolved, but in this dialogue, that's it. It shows how much he trusts Shepard because he takes them at their word and doesn't insist. In the middle of the Reaper War. He's like "it's you so I believe you or trust you to deal with it".

I love their relationship so much. Genuinely of the most moving in Mass Effect.
