one of my favorite things about fantasy chinese dramas is how tactile the magic is.

i feel they always get this right, even when the budget for special effects is not the greatest one lol.

the actors also do a great job of portraying the flow of energy from within the body towards the outside, until you can practically feel it tickling your own skin!

it’s something i felt i was missing ever since watching ATLA as a kid, which was also so good at this, and now i know i can reliably find that deeply sensorial magic in any of these dramas, and i love it 💜
