Your phone buzzed back a few minutes later, which surprised you. You really didn’t think he’d have the cojones to answer you. Clearly you’d have to block the fool.

You picked your phone up, filled with righteous indignation and searching your brain for synonyms for ‘limp.’

That was actually a fantastic series of insults, and it sounds like he really deserves them, but you’ve got the wrong number, sweetheart.

You read the message three times, face growing redder each time. Then you pulled up your phone log and sure enough, when you had manually entered the phone number you had transposed two digits. How. Mortifying.

Few days ago I was at this party. And somehow conversation turned to 'why Im always carrying a purse'. Yes. Some guys there That I know asked me that.

I said Because my pants have no pockets.

They laughed & didnt believe me. They showed me their pants & said "Look how big pockets are. Enough place for phone".

I stood up I literally stood up and showed them how it is with us women & our pants. I showed them tiny pockets in the back,into which I can barely put my keys & that in the front, there were no pocket.

They didnt want to believe me.

So I called my girl friend who was few steps away & told her to show them that her pants are just the same. No pockets in front, only tiny in the back.

The look on their faces I swear. They didnt know what to say & somehow very quickly changed the topic.

They started mocking me but ended up being humiliated by facts & evidence that women just dont have the same luxury as men.

Oooh. The "they didn't want to believe me" galls me. Because that is what always happens when you point out ways in which you're being discriminated against. Even though people have no experience with your situation, they always assume the victim must be at fault. Not the way society mistreats people. That couldn't possibly be right.

It must be you.

It's always you.

I don't know what this 'default disbelief' is supposed to protect against, but people with privilege do not want to believe they have it. They literally refuse to believe it when not presented with something other than your word, experience and expertise.

It's so tyring.

okay I haven't been on tumblr in a long ass MINUTE. but I was listening to an old album left to me by a friend, and a song came on that completely shook my mind and racked my brain with a memory of your writing.
