I‘m just going to come out and say this. I am going to be retiring from roleplaying. It’s not that I don’t like it anymore, I’ve just had absolutely no muse to do anything RP related recently. Heck, even the Star Trek Convention didn’t do much and neither did trying a new muse! It is prolly for the best though. I’m going to be starting school here next week and I’m taking a TON of hours both this semester and the next in order to graduate finally by next Spring. 

This isn’t completely goodbye. I’m keeping these blogs up in case I come back, but I also plan on following quite a few of you because I enjoy your stuff! I’ll just be following y’all from my personal instead. I’m also going to try to continue asksorelcorrigan because as a reference blog rather than a strictly RP blog, I think it’d still be good for me to try (but again, I’d only update it when I have relevant science rants or questions to answer). Though I need to figure out how to connect the two because my personal blog is old enough to have an email I actually can’t access anymore. :|

I also want to say that it really has nothing to do with anyone here or the community as a whole. I have said on many ocassions that the Star Trek RP community is the kindest and most welcoming and most fun I’ve ever been a part of (the Disney one has sooooo much OOC drama, you guys don’t even know)! So don’t worry. I’m just ready to take a BREAK. You guys have really meant a lot to me and this whole experience with this blog (holy crap has it really been two years? That makes Geoff my longest running RP blog by a whole YEAR) has helped me so much get through my depression. It truly means the world to me. And by ‘it’ I mean this community and the times I have had with all of you.

Again, this isn’t a full goodbye. I am not completely leaving everyone and I would love to chat with y’all OOC on my personal etc.

I know I haven’t been quite so active on here as I would like but I simply haven’t had a strong enough muse for these two to do any roleplaying. I also haven’t done my con report because I have been too lazy to transfer my camera pictures to my computer.

So to half make up for it (and because my family will be out of the house this evening) I may record myself singing while in my Amanda costume. If not a video, I will just do audio. Listen I am in a singing mood okay? :|

So if y'all have suggestions, I am open to them but I will say that I am not guaranteed to do them if I don’t know the song well enough or it isn’t in a comfortable vocal range for me (or at least after beibg brought up an octave for a male song?).

Can I ask what update it is that roleplayers are angry about? Tumblr's basically doing so much shit I've given up keeping track of it all.

//The main issue at hand is that the update makes it so that when you reblog, you can’t edit down the previous reblogs. This may not be an issue for most people and I can see why this was done. Basically this preserves previous things like artist notes, and comments from other people etc and keeps posts from being edited to say something the op didn’t want.

However for RPers this makes things a lot harder. There is a general rule we have that stresses trimming posts. Threads can go on for many reblogs and also can be long replies so very quickly they can clog up the dash. It is really annoying to scroll forever to get past a single post and those replies also get scrunched up to the side because of those lines indicating who said what etc.

So we trim posts. The rule of thumb is that when you reply, you delete the last reply that you made to put in your new one after your partner’s. This way no single post gets incredibly bogged down by previous replies as clicking on your partner’s username in their reply takes you to that post. It is all chained together and it has worked out fine for us.

However this new update makes that impossible. We can’t trim posts anymore and so we have to figure out a new way to do it. Finding a universal solution is going to take a long time if it ever does. Some have said that there should have been an option to ‘lock’ your post when you post or reblog so if people want to make changes (like us RPers want to) then they can, but if you don’t want these changes, then you can prevent people from doing that.

So things are a little messy right now. I am sure we will come to get used to this eventually. We always do. It is just always a messy process. I just wish there was some sort of buffer. Like if tumblr gave a test version (that users can opt out of), allow us to test it and give feedback on what works and what doesn’t. That way they can see if the update is really worth it or if certain communities have unique issues that staff didn’t even know to consider. At the very least it would give people a chance to prepare for the change for when it DOES become mandatory. I don’t think most people like to be suddenly hit with this stuff.

My sister has already claimed it for her Halloween costume. But in any case, it wasn't a bad first attempt and I think I did pretty good doing my makeup considering that I NEVER wear makeup.

//Got the wig done. Basically. The first thing you may notice is that this doesn't seem much like Amanda's beehive in Journey to Babel. That is because it is not. Due to my incompetence (either in buying a wig that was too short or not knowing how to make it work with a wig of this length), I was unable to reproduce it in the slightest. With the help of my mom, we kind of just gave her a curly updo and called it a night. Idk, I think Amanda would like it? That or I am just optimistic. Either way, I have made my peace with it so oh well.
