He’s going to take a nap, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it, because he deserves it.

Oh so close to unconsciousness ― an utter dream itself to devote himself entirely to a nap rather than more paperwork. Sensitive to even the slightest of movements, Chuuya’s actions do not go unnoticed. “It’s your day off.” A whisper, face does not rise from its place buried within his arm.
He’s going to take a nap, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it, because he deserves it.
It’s 11am, and I’m thinking about Ranpo’s ability to love, and how different it is dependent on which verse I write him in. One thing that is consistent across the board, is he remembers what love does feel like deep down. His parents loved him to the point of sheltering him from the time he was a child, till he was a young teenager. After they were murdered, Ranpo’s memories of them were repressed out of trauma, therefore, this feeling of love hides itself, until he meets somebody that displays it to him. Platonically or romantically. Romantically, it can be harder to love Ranpo at first. Why? He’s incredibly insufferable, and he may display characteristics of being selfish, but he is not. He is completely and utterly loyal. He knows who to invest his time into, since he can tell if somebody is being sincere with him. He doesn’t have to waste his time beating around the bush. The exception to that is if he’s afraid of the other person’s answer. He chooses whether to deduce a certain something from someone or not. Especially if it’s somebody he’s romantically tied to.
Port Mafia Ranpo takes longer to warm up, because again, he’s been weaponized by Mori since the age of fourteen. Romantic love and strong platonic love aren’t something seen in the port mafia, and if there are bouts of romantic love, it’s only met by extreme hardship and pain. Remember, Ranpo wants to reduce as much of the hardship on himself as he can. Mori does not display a fatherly view on Ranpo, because Ranpo is one of his top tier prodigies, raised beside Dazai up until Dazai’s departure. After Dazai’s departure from the mafia, the hold on Ranpo becomes tighter, entangling him in a game of manipulation that has Ranpo consistently rebelling under his thumb. Their bond is not out of father-son love, it’s a power struggle. Ranpo will completely do what he wants, on his own time, and he knows he can get away with it because he’s bound to always come out on top. He can appear cold, calculating, still insufferable as his main canon self, but harsher than his main canon self.
It’s a complex thing and I can sit here and talk about Ranpo for hours honestly.
