“I can see why you became head of the department, and I the head of the class. We seem to have… Similar methods of behavior.” A smile appeared on Loki’s face. “I, too, always get what I want.”

“Exactly. I wouldn’t have taken this job unless I knew I’d be the master of it. Similarities in people can be a very dangerous thing… then again it could also work in some wonferful ways.” Kaa said pleased to finally be talking to someone with the right idea of how power works. “And jussssst what is it you truly want, boy?”

Loki started before easing back into the easy flow of the conversation. “What do I want?” He laughed “I want to be remember, to be greater than everyone else, to outshine the family that raised me and the father that sired me. I will be a legend.”

“I do not struggle.” Loki said coldly. “I may occasionally need to bring outside resources in, but I never struggle. However… Perhaps you do have a set of resources I might need?”

“I’ll do the best I can to help…” Angel said, slightly regretting offering. The guy in front of her seemed a bit too much. “What do ya need?”

“What I need depends entirely on what you can do for me. I don’t have to continue with what I’m currently doing, assuming you are actually able to do something. So. What can you do?”

“Look, as much as I… appreciate… your assistance, I hardly believe that you can help me, not with this.”

Loki let out a snort. “Such an opinion is truly unsurprising, considering that it was you that just said it. However I must ask you, why do you say that the campus was turned upside down, and that everything is not where it should be. Perhaps this is where everything belongs, and they were the only ones to even attempt to bring the natural order back.” Loki raised his chin. “And perhaps the injured deserved it. I wonder, did you ever think of these possibilities?”

Steve narrowed his eyes at the younger male, confused as to where he was going with this. “Of course I do. But at the end of the day, far more people were happy than those who were not before this giant mess happened. And I care about the well-being of these people.” The professor shook his head slightly before continuing, “Nobody deserves to be injured that badly. Physically or otherwise. Do you know how many people are traumatized from this?”

“Frankly, I do not know and nor do I care. I firmly believe in survival of the fittest. And if people are incompetent enough to not avoid being stabbed, it’s their own fault. What I want to know is, why are the ‘villains’ bad? How are they even the slightest bit worse than the ‘heroes’ we surround ourselves with, heroes like you? And to be honest,” Loki squared his chest, “What makes you the hero? What if you’re the villain, and people like me are the heroes?”

“Pool?” Loki’s eyes lit up. “I am pleased to here that, as a pool challenge is a great deal harder to find than a bowling one. May I possibly engage you in a game?”

Calcifer raised a curious eyebrow at the other man as he seemed to grow a little excited at the statement. “Yes. I have been playing for years. Have been pretty good for most of them. I can tell that you play as well.” A small smile crept to his lips and he nodded his head. “A game sounds fun. Haven’t played in a little bit.”

“Truly? Fantastic. This bodes to be a promising match then, as I too have taken time off playing for... Other reasons. Please, do choose the table.”

“Look, as much as I… appreciate… your assistance, I hardly believe that you can help me, not with this.”

  “Not even one of my spinach puffs? I promise they are good and can help anyone do anything. Haven’t you see that show Popeye? Same concept.” Kronk pushed forward the tray in hopes the boy would eat the food he baked.

Loki gingerly took one of the puff and sniffed it, before taking a bite. His eyes widened and his hand sneaked over to the plate, grabbing another. “I... Thank you for the food. It was... unexpectedly delightful.”

“Celebrate?” Loki snorted. “There is nothing to celebrate. If anything, it is time to mourn the passing of a truly joyful and properly organized time in the school’s history.”

I really can’t say anything because I had to go home for a while and when I came back everything was in chaos. a friend of mine who lived in the mansion said that everyone had some pretty awful stuff happen so I don’t think that’s enjoyable.

“Of course. It is hardly surprising that someone of your... intellect would find such a situation distressing. However someone like me found it invigorating, even if I only heard about it secondhand.”

I’m so happy now that the rules went back to normal. I mean I have no right to complain because i got back a week before the rules were being changed anyways. What are you doing to celebrate?

“I can only assume you mean the masks that one would wear when hiding their true capacity?” Loki asked before continuing. “If so, I firmly agree with the idea. We must be able to blend in and ‘lure in’ people but we cannot become so engrossed in our role we forget our true potential.”

“Luring people has become one of my greatest strengths, boy. And my brother always said he thinks a person who strays from their goals is weak.” She chuckled and before looking up from her fingernails she smirked. “I don’t stray, I alwaysssss get what I want.”

A flick of something ran through Loki’s eyes, disappearing before it could be identified. “Excuse me.” Loki said before stopping himself. Loki brought his hand to the bridge of his nose. “Are you telling me that you are certain that is your briefcase?” Loki asked. “Because I assure you, mine looks identical to this one. Which you claim to be yours.”

Loki raised one eyebrow, showing his disdain clearly on his face. “I do believe you can. I do so hate to be rude, however I couldn’t help but overhear your… Conversation about the recent events that have occurred over the past month.” Loki stepped into the office, not at all intimidated by the stern tone. “Why, if I may ask, do you believe that the ‘villians’ are such terrible people?”

Tilting his head to the side, Steve raised an eyebrow in turn. “Are you joking? They’ve turned this entire campus upside down. Nothing’s where it should be, and so many of these student and faculty members have gotten hurt over the last month that one can’t help but think they’re not the nicest people to be around.” Steve spoke, honestly, though confused as to why the young student couldn’t see it.

Loki let out an annoyed huff. “Because I’m the only student who does anything in this god-forsaken department. And I must say, looking like the other imbeciles is my greatest defense. It leaves the door open for more surprises. Don’t you agree?”

Kaa seemed impressed which only meant she had to have the boy. “Looking like the others… and hitting them when they least expcet it is a very strong tactic. But to make sure you are never noticed for being much more powerful then everyone you much sacrifice and act like the idiot.” Kaa said pushing the papers forward. “We mustn’t revile what’s behind our masks, boy.”

To say Loki was completely and utterly done with his alarm clock would be an understatement. The time change had left his clock one hour ahead, meaning he woke up an hour ahead of when he should have. While this usually wouldn’t have been a problem, Loki found himself with very little to do. No coursework to do, no chaos to attend to. So, he found himself wandering the halls of the history wing, killing time until his course for the day began. However, as he wandered, he heard someone complaining about recent events. About the villains.

Steve sat in his office talking on the phone to one of his old friends, explaining the odd situation that had occurred at the school over the past month. Though Steve wasn’t usually one to run his mouth, even he would admit that the whole thing was ridiculous. Just as he had hung up, he heard footsteps in the hallway. Stepping outside he saw a student, but not one he recognized. “Excuse me,” Steve spoke friendly but sternly, “is there something I can help you with?”
