Review: Can This Love Be Translated (4/5)

I honestly haven't been this excited for a drama in a while. I saw a couple videos psychoanalyzing this, so I knew it was going to be fun. It started off as a very fun, lighthearted, and fluffy romance. Very whimsical, and I loved it. The genre shifted halfway through, and then I loved it even more. It made me really think about my own therapy work and how I gained more compassion for the other parts of myself. I loved that shift with the show as well. I was so excited for the fun emotional depth, but then I was kinda disappointed that it wasn't more fleshed out. The premise and excitement was there, but the ending was meh. It was left with a lot of plot holes and just began dragging because it wasn't being properly executed. I loved the three actors though. They were so good and had so much chemistry. This had really high hopes of being something really good. They used a lot of metaphors and whatnot in their dialogue, which made it fun, but lots of it got lost in translation unfortunately.

Review: Dear X (4/5)

I was pretty excited for this because I love mental health thrillers. There was so much depth to each of the characters and actors. I really couldn't stop watching. I love the main actress. The story was so complex, and even though all the characters were morally gray, you couldn't but help but understand where they were coming from. I love when we can humanize even the worst villains. I also liked how the main lead progressed, finding bits and pieces of normalcy throughout her life. However, I was quite dumbfounded by ending. It wasn't the worst or even bad; it was just badly executed and written. I could see and accept this ending if they didn't throw in a new character with a such complex background and then just throw him to the wayside. Everyone says it goes awry after ep 8, and I agree. It felt like a whole new drama where two psychos battle it out. And that is fine in a different drama or just needing better flow. Overall though, I liked the story and liked each character more than expected. I also liked the documentary wrapping back to the beginning. This drama was very fun and interesting and crazy.

Review: Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (5/5)

It's honestly been sooooo long since I've watched a historical or even Chinese drama. I thought this was gonna make me so anxious, but it just reminded me how much depth historical cdramas have all about life and love. Of course, I liked this drama even more because I love the main actress and the fact that it starts romcom-y. She's honestly exactly the happy dosage of love and sunshine that I needed. And the main male lead is actually the tsundere character I wanted to fall for. This really had all the perfect tropes and my favorite things all in one drama all at the right time. I had high expectations of this drama, and I was not disappointed. There is literally so much growth and development with the male lead I just cannot. And the plot twists! They're predictable enough but also, I love when everything falls into place and makes sense. I love the interconnectedness of past and current lives of people. I do admit the ending was a little rushed and fluffy, but I think they dragged out the incoming doomsday long enough. It felt like the series could've ended so many times much earlier in the series, but it kept going. Until it couldn't and then it was just an info dump to tie all the loose ends. Regardless, I'm still happy with this drama. The chemistry was amazing between the two leads, but I only wish there was more romantic moments when they actually got together. I swear we did not get a single kiss. There was a lot of buildup and comfort, but where's the giddiness of romance? Sighh..

Review: Strong Girl Nam Soon (3/5)

I had high expectations considering that I loved the other drama, and I loved how lighthearted and romcom it was at first. But then as the plot developed, there was this weird balance between romcom and serious deep stuff. At first, I liked it cuz it had depth, but then when they didn't execute or let the story play out, it just sucked. The ending was really disappointing. I know they're trying to make another season, but the character that I cared most about just fell apart by the end. They really made such an amazing and complex villain, and I just had so much hope for it to not mean anything. I agreed with a lot of comments saying that the main character felt like she wasn't really the main character because there was more interesting and fun side characters. At the same time, they really added in some unnecessary screen time for some of the other side characters that didn't have much importance to impact to the show. Overall, it was an alright show, and I'm glad I didn't fully invest myself to this.

Review: Bon Appetit, Your Majesty (4/5)

This was seriously such a charming and cute drama. I haven't seen a kdrama that made me so invested so quickly in a while. I loved the food and historical aspects, and a lot of it was pretty humorous. But of course, with humor in historical dramas, there's politics and nonsense, which I don't love. I think because the show was focused on food, I wasn't that interested in the romance, but I really enjoyed the main two leads overall.

Review: Genie, Make a Wish (4/5)

This honestly reminded me of old kdramas with the comedy and perfect amount of good cringe. And then it gets deeper with plot and characters and everything. I would say the plot gets more confusing towards the end, but most of the buildup was perfect. I really loved the two main leads and characters in this. This really hit my heart.

Review: Everyone Loves Me (3/5)

This cdrama was lowkey a compilation of all the other college/gaming cdramas combined with less of the fuss/drama lol. But it was still very cute despite it being very plot-holey and predictable. I absolutely loved the female lead. She's so pretty. Super lighthearted and I really much enjoyed the beginning before they graduated.

Review: Welcome to Samdalri (3/5)

I began watching this for a slow heartwarming drama, and I guess I got what I was looking for. But it was a bit tooo slow at times and used a lot of flashbacks. It was pretty cute, but I preferred some of the side stories more than the more one. It's really unfortunate they dragged this out. It took me quite a bit of time to finish this....

Review: Under the Queen's Umbrella (4/5)

I love the lighthearted and fun parts of this historical drama, but then the politics got to be a bit much. However, I still very much enjoyed getting to know all the characters and the story unfolding. It was never not interesting. It is not usual that a political drama end without everyone dying or being killed off, so it was refreshing that there was so peace and acceptance for lots of the characters. I wish we could've gotten to know more of the side plots, but regardless, the queen was freaking amazing as a character and actress.

Review: Twinkling Watermelon (5/5)

The first few episodes were honestly sooo good. The story of this drama is pretty unique although the time travel bit and timeline stuff was kinda confusing and had had a lot of plotholes. Regardless, this was a really heartwarming and touching drama about family, friends, and romance. I also really like dramas with rock music/bands. It really adds the passion and emotional aspect. I really enjoyed all the actors cuz they were seriously so good and so cute.

Review: Lovely Runner (5/5)

People reallyyyyyyy set the expectations high for this one, and it did not fail to reach those expectations and then some more. You would think that a romcom with a bit of mystery thriller and time travel is overdone and never goes well, but this freaking drama just has such amazing writing. I was soooooo hooked for basically all the episodes. You cannot help but be obsessed with all the characters and the plot just keep catching you off guard. This drama really shows romance at its purest form with fate and destiny, and the actors absolutely killed it with their chemistry and emotions. I feel like I'm still in shock and grief for all the plot twists and trauma I just went through like holy. The cinematography and music just really emphasized the emotions even more, and I am just in grief. The writers really did such an amazing job balancing all the genres while keeping the main focus on the romance. I am shook that a drama could be this good after so many dramas being alright. I don't even feel like this plot is super unique but somehow they were really able to make it their own.

Review: See You in My 19th Life (4/5)

Goddamn, I was crying almost every episode. Something about reincarnation and the olden days just makes me so emotional. I loved the plot and felt like they didn't drag things out for too long (for example, the car accident or her first past life). The only thing is that they really made it super plot-holey and didn't wrap it up as nicely in the last episode. Thankfully, it was the last episode lol. I feel like the main leads did such an amazing job with subtlety and emotions. I really felt everything and the plot really kept me on my toes.

Review: Queen of Tears (4/5)

I had pretty high expectations since everyone was watching this and was hyping it, but I think I was not really in the mood for it. It was definitely cute and funny and very emotional, but then I feel like the plot and writing felt off towards the last few episodes. I really hate when things get too political and feel really all over the place with genres. I'm not sure it was really romcom or what with so much going on. I feel like there was a lot of buildup for the romance but then not much of it actually happening. So much tension and chemistry but no kisses?? Barely hugs or holding hands lmao. I think I would've preferred this drama if it focused more on one aspect or flushed one aspect out more. It started really strong but then just didn't work into the end. However, I did really enjoy the two main leads. They really carried the show.

Review: To Me Who Loved You and To Every You I've Loved (4/5)

I've been meaning to watch these two anime movies for a while and heard that they're super emotional and heartbreaking, so I thought I should watch it when I'm in the right mood. I also heard that it was cool cuz you can watch in whatever order and the ending changes. Tbh, I don't think this is true at all, and I think that it's meant to be To Me Who Loved You (pink) and then To Every You I've Loved (blue) as the first movie has a lot of questions and then second movie provides a lot of the answers. I feel like pink provided a foundation and then blue showed the twist/explanation, so I'm not sure if it would make sense the other. I've also heard comments that said that if you watched blue first, you would basically have all the spoilers and then it would make watching pink more difficult since they repeat scenes. But I'm glad I watched it in this order cuz it made a lot of sense to me, and you get the same ending regardless and I prefer things slowly coming together in a more straightforward manner.

I agree with a lot of comments saying that execution of this story was poor. I'm not sure if it was the subs or just the general sci-fi, but I could never understand or follow any of the science. I feel like that really took away from the experience as I was really just trying to not be confused. There def could've better ways to make it more clear and still cool/interesting. It was also unfortunate that they reused the scenes in both movies and added even more confusion by showing both worlds in both movies. I do think it would've been more impactful to see the contrast ORRR if they just made it in one movie lmao. It really didn't have to be two, and I had to skip through the repeated scenes, which was also kinda annoying. However, I did like the idea of the plot. I love heartbreaking romance and the messages these movies portrayed. I was really sad for all the characters throughout, and I guess the sci-fi and parallel worlds added a layer of how small and meaningless something could be but then in turn shows how meaningful and important love can be that it overwhelms all that. My mind is definitely hella provoked by all the sci-fi and the sacrifices all the characters made for love. I was not as emotional (aka crying) as I thought I would be, but I think it's cuz I'm so focused on understanding the story/sci-fi, but overally, these movies were a nice watch.

Review: Marry My Husband (4/5)

I swear these days it's hard to find a kdrama to feel entertained by and actually want to watch through since our attention spans are slowly dying. But I was pretty excited for this one that I even watched it as it came out. I think I preferred it that way cuz otherwise, I might've rated it lower. The plot was not correctly developing towards the end, but the writing and story was so fun and interesting in the beginning. It's really been a while since I was that invested in a kdrama, so I'm glad for this, but I'm pretty disappointed that the last few episodes fell through. But overall, I loved the revenge story with lots of romance and loved all the actors, especially the main leads and antagonists. They really did soo well.

Review: Uncanny Counter S2 (3/5)

It was so layered and complex in the first season that this season was such a disappointment. It was mostly to see some action without story. Not a single character grew or had development lmao. It's almost like they completely undid the work in S1 and just reused the basic ideas of the characters. However, I can't say I didn't enjoy it though cuz I do like these characters and the actors, but I could not watch any more. I'm glad they kept it as short as it was cuz I def couldn't handle the same repetitive scenes anymore. I'm glad they resolved things well, but I'm also glad they kept it so simple that I didn't need to be invested or attached.

Review:  When I Fly Towards You (5/5)

This is honestly probably one of my favorite cdramas of all time. I literally strive to be this female lead, and this male lead is exactly my type. It feels like a romance that I could've never imagined come true, especially so pure and innocent and genuine. It feels like something I would've wholeheartedly wished come true. It perfectly encapulates youth, life, and its wonders at its finest. It makes you wanna rethink life and just simply enjoy it as it is, romanticizing it all. Honestly, it does make me a little sad and jealous that reality isn't so pure like theirs and romance isn't as secure, but it does make me feel nostalgic and think of what could be and what could've been. So freaking heartwarming and really easy watch. There was never a slow moment, and there was always more I wished to see. It's rare for a cdrama to have such a good plot and actually execute it so smoothly. I'm really gonna miss this a lot. Definitely would rewatch to re-experience youth and pure love again and again.

To elaborate, I never expected the female lead to be beyond just a hardcore fangirl until she was so bold and true to herself, especially when it came to showing her affection and words to the male lead, which is proof that his feelings and that support given/received was more important than herself and her possible feelings of embarrassment/shyness. She was always so genuine in everything she did and so supportive to all the characters. As for the male lead, I have always loved a tsundere character, and he shows so much growth and openness of his feelings and affection as he spends more time with the female lead. It makes all his feelings/reactions that much more impactful and meaningful as he is genuinely happy and love her and their friends. The development of their romance was slow but always obvious as they became each other's best friend to more. They cared so much about each other and always showed up in the little ways. It was even pure that they both liked each other and were just happy being in each other's company with nothing more in the beginning. They were just that happy and grateful to be in each other's lives. That's what makes this romance so heartfelt as it built over time.
