"the education system traumatizes students it deems stupid" and "the education system traumatizes students it deems gifted" are two concepts that can and should coexist.
I think I've got a compromise
And yet only one of these groups were actively denied education, up to and including sex education as well as singled out for ridicule by staff and students alike. The education system failed me and when they did they quarantined me away in a room with no resources so that my presence would not get in the way of you precious gifted kids
but you know lets just call it even? Were just the same!
āOh but they pressured us to achieve things outside our abilityā
I dont know how to tell you this but they also pressured us to do what we couldent, what you couldnāt do was get all A+s and what i couldent do was fucking pass. At least your work was worth something! We were stripped of any resources we had, and declared stupid, disruptive and uncooperative. When we learned that nothing we did was enough and stopped trying we were declared lazy too. You werenāt proven as special as you thought. Boo hoo. I was proven exactly as āspecialā as everyone thought. And that brand comes with a target on your back. You precious fucking gift children took all of your trauma out on us and they let you, they gave you an easy target. Fuck you for equating these things you conceited, oblivious assholes.
hint:stop trying to see this situation as a trauma competition where the side you dont like having trauma means theyre undermining you by speaking abt their experience and maybe youll realize you misread the post
The school system is a narcissistic parent. The kids with learning disabilities play as the scapegoats, are abused verbally, emotionally and physically through bullying and completely neglected by the system. They are isolated, have less chances to develop social skills and have a low self esteem. The gifted kids play as the golden children, their every move is controlled, the system is emotionally manipulating them to achieve medals so the teacher can have a pay raise, are stripped of any autonomy over their lives and their parents are basically grabbed by the balls to spend more and more on programs or "they will ruin the child's future" - basically slaps the children and the parents for not "being grateful for the 12h+ of work a day and the destruction of their friendships and social skills". This looks like love from the outside but it's just covert abuse. Both are abuse, but they play very different, and the root of both is that we look at children and say "this kid is useless and I hate that I need to offer it support" and "this kid will be a useful asset, let's start extracting every thought they have at maximum speed". Basically "how can I use this kid to my benefit".
