Born in Guangzhou, China, Bow-sim Mark started seriously training in Wushu during high school, specializing in Tai Chi and Northern Shaolin. At the time, women who studied martial arts were almost unheard of. However, her talents caught the attention of the Great Grandmaster Fu Wing Way, one of the most decorated martial artists in China and founder of Fu Style Tai Chi. He ended up taking her in as his private student.
In 1984, Mark won a gold medal at the first International Tournament of T’ai chi ch’uan in Wuhan City. In 1995, she was named Black Belt magazine’s Kung-Fu artist of the year. Before Mark immigrated to the U.S., she was already famous all over China not just because she was a talented female martial artist, but because she was also better than most men in her craft.
“Everything is harder for a woman,” Mark told NextShark with some help in translating from her daughter Chris Yen. “If a man has to work at 100% to excel, a woman must work at 150%! Not just in martial arts but in any field in order to be taken seriously.”

After teaching at her master’s school for 10 years, she emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1975 where she became one of the first people to introduce Wushu to the West.
“There were only a few Chinese kung-fu schools in Chinatown and mostly karate schools around the suburbs,” Mark said. “My school was the first Chinese ‘Wushu’ school and at the time, Wushu was not known yet in the West.”
As a successful martial arts master who’s had students open up schools themselves, Sifu Mark broke down what makes a good teacher. She notes that while there are many styles of Tai Chi, all tai chi can be judged by six characteristics and six requirements:
“The characteristics are that the movement should be circular, relaxed, calm, continuous, and done with intent and energy. The requirements are that the spine is naturally straight, the shoulders and elbows are sunk, the chest is empty, the movement originates in the waist, the pelvis is at a natural angle, and yin and yang are clear.”

He’s trying to communicate
mads mikkelsen knows absolutely nothing about anything he is in. he probably just saw an image of the death star after being asked the question and went with that
he never watched silence of the lambs, he just wandered onto the set of hannibal one day making gourmet food and sniffing human beings like he normally does and they decided to keep him around

Holidaying Hannah
I’m feeling like a grump scrump because I have had Holidaying Hannah for about a week and have yet to upload anything, but more on that later.
So she arrived on Tuesday, and That night we went out to the beach. My phone died so there was no pictures.
The next outing was on Thursday. She came with me to celebrate my birthday at a local ice cream store.
(Pictured - The ice cream shop from her point of view)
Jaxson’s is this really old and cool ice cream shop in Dania Beach. If you ever come down here be sure to stop by, but be warned, its quite popular. There’s usually a line down the block on Friday nights, but we were there on a Thursday night kinda late, so it made it far less crowded.
On Friday, she came with me on my job as a tour guide. I work at the historical Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale. She tagged along for the tour in my front pocket and learned a bit about Florida history.
(Pictured - Hannah having a nice conversation with a local in the base of a sable palm.)
On Saturday, Hannah tagged along to Paradise City Comic Con. She met Dana Snyder (voice of Master Shake on Aqua teen Hunger Force) and a few others voice actors.
(Pictured - Hannah posing near a guidebook that is taller than her.)
That night we went to a local hangout spot called Undergrounds Coffeehaus. It’s this weird hangout spot above an Oriental Rug store and across the street from a venue I saw Death grips and the Mountain Goats at a year ago. They are known for their 40 flavors of tater tots (If you ever go, Loaded Garlic Bread or die). We ordered some of their Blue lemonade (it’s weird but good) and Hannah brushed up on some TV History.
Sunday brought another adventure, with me realizing I needed to get some of my Christmas shopping done, we went to the local comic book store, TATE’s. Tate’s comics is something of a legend in my area, it’s one of the largest comic book stores in the county (one of the only left), and has been around for a while.
While inside, it began to rain again, so we were camped out inside the store for a while waiting for the brunt of the storm to pass.
And that brings us to today. I’m going to keep her until next monday, then she’ll be shipped off to the next host. The next post will include such highlights as the Wynwood district of Miami (maybe), An Abandoned Rocket testing facility, a beehive inspection, and Robert.
Hey Hannah been looking at the posters on the Yogs store and was just wondering if you knew or could direct to someone who does but what sizes are the posters i.e A3, A2 etc, been looking the one Scribbles made you as well as the new Zoey and Fiona one, hope you can help.
Pretty sure they’re all A2, I’ve sent an email to Mike our merch guy to ask him to update the store with sizes - you’re far better tweeting us for an answer regarding the store as we can actually have a conversation with you instead of losing messages instantly on Tumblr :)
Yogscast ads are the best!
I know it’s super blurry but here’s a hannah dab
