Your character doesn't need to be likeable. They need to be legible. The reader needs to understand every decision they make even when it's wrong, even when it's ugly, even when they want to shake them. Likeable is easy and forgettable. Legible is what makes someone stay with you for years. Make the logic of every bad choice visible. The reader doesn't have to agree with it. They just have to follow it.

Considering the way mage oppression is a major plot driver in DA2, it is extremely funny to me that none of the pre-built world states you can select when you start a new game come with a mage Warden. The only way to have Warden Amell or Surana in your world state is to have played the entire first game as them on the same device. And most people probably have already played Origins, but for people who didn't (like me, I played DA in the most chaotic order possible) or people who chose a warrior or a rogue Warden and wanted to see if anything was different in DA2 with the Warden being Hawke's cousin, they'd have to go and play all of DAO. It would have made a lot more sense to have a pre-built world state for each class, no?

Yes, I noticed this fact after playing DAO,DA2, and 1/3 of DAI. I played rogue on DAO and DA2 but decided to play mage in DAI. Because of that reason, I'm replaying DAO as a mage partly to get my perfect worldstate and partly because I romanced Cullen on DAI and want to get the full complexity of the relationship if he had crush on mage warden.
