Oh I do hope Kenzo doesn't turn into the Investigator. I feel like if what you're suggesting were to come to pass, the show would become so divorced from the book that it would seem like a completely different piece of media. Cascade failure: Holden has already compromised his principles, and if novel!Miller's story doesn't play out, then I personally feel like show!Holden's development won't be as nuanced as it is in the text. But I’m tired and I could easily be talking out my ass right now, and I don’t think I’m as good at it as Holden.

So um Does anyone want to talk about a platonic father-daughter relationship with Miller and Julie? One where he's simultaneously filling his own "missed the boat" desire for a family AND trying to make up for Mao's (perceived?) bad parenting? Idk the show gave me the impression that Julie was quite young, enough to make a romantic ship kinda squicky to me. Honestly, the way Miller's obsession manifests later on is... kind of creepy. Sad too, tragic and all, but... nyeeehhh.
