people liking Valko/switching to him get a lot of harrasment
he received a lot of hate from this PV alone, especially from a very loud part of the CN side. "Complaints" (idk how else to title it, bear with me 😭) include but are not limited to:
he doesn't look like the others at all
he looks too much like Sylus/Caleb/Zayne
he's too masculine
he's too buff
he was made to cater to fujoshis//claims that he is gay (to the point PPG had to specifically say that no, all LIs are straight)
he was made specifically for the Western market and the Western market only
he looks "too Western" to be in an Asian game
he should be removed from the game altogether
he should only be added to the global server and reduced to a 'Special Encounter' for the CN server
this is how PPG responded to CN's outcry at first:

more support for Valko on both XHS and Twitter as days pass but there is still an overwhelming amount of open harrassment at times;
the hate splits into two groups. Those that hate Valko and want him removed (includes parts of CalebTWT that seem to go through the same "culification" process as parts of SylusTWT did when Caleb was first released; from what I've seen on my TL a lot of the hate seems to stem from those accounts despite the fact that they had to go through the very same thing, unfortunately), and those who are frustated at PPG for:
overall lack of communication
prioritizing a 6th LI over releasing the missing base content for Sylus and Caleb and while certain features remain untouched for over a year now/since release
Caleb's last main story appearance having been over 1 1/2 years (525 days at the time of writing) ago
lack of main story in general
lack of ways to farm for diamonds, especially in late game
supposedly purposefully stirring drama in the fandom to distract from other ongoing controversy/keep the fandom divided to avoid boycotts (<- decide for yourself if you think there's validity to it, I'm just explaining why some people are upset with the company, don't shoot the messanger ✌️)

a rumor starts that Valko will "break into MC's home and rape her";

-> I'm assuming the rumor was in regards to what was later shown in his second trailer? He wants to stay at MC's home for the night, seems to make himself comfortable right away and then a little later in the trailer is a little forceful when trying to cuddle with her in bed
For clarification, they both already know that MC is his mate at that point. Think how werewolves find their mate in Twilight. That kinda concept I hope it's similar at least I've only ever seen scraps of Twilight LMAOOO. We don't yet know what it's like for werewolves in LADS once they found their mate, but my guess is that in Valko's eyes, it's normal to essentially act like a couple once you've found your mate, hence why he is being so forward. Meanwhile for MC he's coming on too strong, hence why she's trying to pull away from the hug
Anyway if the rape rumor wasn't based on taking this scene and twisting it idk where it's supposed to originate from
also, here are some examples of the harrassment global players who like Valko ended up receiving/tactics that were used to try and get players to quit

PPG releases a PV to hype the livestream happening on the 28th. The PV includes the rule "do not bathe in a bowling pot". Some people on the CN side have made the claim that this must be a reference to a murder case that has happened in China

the World Underneath chapter 25 'Light into Dust' that has been out since April 21st gets under fire for including the number 731
in the context of the WU story, it was used as one of the dates for the log entries written as '0731' (July 31st)
in real life, unit 731 was a biological warfare unit run by Japanese military during WW2 where they conducted human experiments, mostly on Chinese prisoners of war. None survived the experiments unfortunately

given that historic content, it's obvious why the Chinese government does not take references to it lightly. And while I did not find any definitive proof that the CCP is currently investigating LADS for it, it wouldn't be surprising
PPG quickly changes the date to '0611' (June 11th)
-> apparently some netizen tried tying another incident to this number (the supposed biggest one was the fact that this is apparently the anniversary of Light & Night)

PPG apologized, saying that it was meant to originally reference Valko being a werewolf and nothing more, and said they have since already changed the line

PPG releases a statement saying that they will cancel Valko as a love interest subsequently also setting the precedent that ANY of the already exisiting LIs can also be removed if there is enough extreme pushback
there are efforts by the community to revert this desicion. Also, mass stepping-away of a lot of players rn. Fan artists, writers, and the LADS Chinese Wiki Team are also quitting
First off, I sincerly hope all the staff members are well. While I get people being frustrated with the company, the staff are not the people responsible for any of this mess. It's the excecutives and higher-ups that have made all the decisions to cut communication, barely give things to the players for free, and so forth. I'm sure they put a lot of time, energy and love into Valko's content only to now be told that their creation will never properly see the light of day. It's not fair that their hard work never gets to pay off, and it's also not fair that they now receive disguised death wishes and items for "spiritual cleansing" because of decisions they have no say over. Genuinely, I hope they are doing okay rn. Nothing will change that I am upset over how this entire launch has devolved into a complete shitshow and that there are a million ways this could have been either avoided or handled better, but if Valko being cancelled means the staff will no longer receive actual harrassment then y'know what, maybe it's for the better that he got cancelled ://
Second off, this sets a dangerous precedent. If one LI can be removed because of too much backlash, then literally none of them are save. It doesn't matter that Valko hasn't even released yet, PPG has already put a lot of money into his production. Again, they have been working on him for at least over a year now!! If they are willing to just axe him despite all the money and effort they put into him, then they can easily put any of them on the chopping block if their inclusion becomes too much of a hassle!
On top of that, literally zero of the actual problems have been solved. A 6th LI has always been planned. It is literally baked into even the UI of the game. But now that his launch has been cancelled we won't be getting a new main story update for another 3 months. And even then it might be pushed back simply because they have to retcon every storybeat that originally had to do with Valko. The quality of the overall story as a whole will suffer. And also, if the story can be changed at the players' whim any time, then literally what is the point to even telling it in the first place
Third off, the part that I tbh don't understand is this:
Rn at the time of finally finishing this it's been almost nine hours since the announcement of Valko's cancelation and they have yet to pull any of his promotional content from any of their SocMed accounts. The only thing that has been removed so far is Valko's introduction page on the official website. He is still in all of the social media banners, his trailers and PVs are still up, his channel still exists in the official Discord server, and the official giveaways for his now cancelled release are still running. The inclusion of the #LADSValkoCanceled also feels so off? Idk, I don't want to say it feels like a marketing stunt--especially since again, the actual staff has been getting harrassed now--but at the seem time, it does kinda feel that way... I saw someone say on Twitter that it kinda feels like them playing boy who cried wolf, which ://
sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and put "text your friend whom you love and genuinely want to talk to" on your to-do list because otherwise it is not getting done
honestly so glad this one is gaining traction. just saw it in my notifications and went "MAN ALRIGHT" to text yet another person i have been genuinely wanting to text back for days
