I hate student loans, but I will absolutely recommend them, and here’s why:

You have more time to study and focus on important things. I’ve done the two jobs and no student loans deal, it’s hell.

With the ability to work less, you can become more involved in student organizations that will benefit you once you graduate college. This is something that sets you up to make ~$60K a year because of experience instead of say an entry-level ~$40K position.

Maintaining a higher GPA is important for acquiring internships, which in turn are important for getting a great job right out of school.

What I’m trying to say here is, student loans are bullshit. But do not dread them. If you are going to take student loans out, use the time you could have spent working wisely. Turn yourself into the most valuable employee possible with the extra time you have bought with student loans. Student loans are not scary when you’ve used your time wisely and set yourself up to pay them off very quickly with a nice job once you graduate. Student loans are still absolutely usury, but you’ll be able to survive them if you’re smart.
