i haven't seen anything about this on my dashboard, so i wanted to share. ICE gestapo killed another human being on tuesday. he leaves behind three sons and his wife, who he has spent the last 35 years building a life with
there is a gofundme supported by the league of united latin american citizens set up to help with funeral costs, legal fees, and supporting his family moving forward.
So! This is a perfect case study in situations where you should be wary of misinformation.
Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?
The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!
This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.
Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:
Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or
Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.
The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.
The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).
Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.
So yeah, there's actually quite a lot of places that would like these. Lots of people currently breathing in terrible quality air would much rather have their boring city benches replaced with really fucking cool algae tanks that clean the air and can be used to help create + sustain future green spaces in cities. I dunno about you, but I'd take that over a dumb metal bench any day. Put these at every bus stop and I'd be delighted.
In case anyone finds it helpful because mobility aids are horrifically expensive and inaccessible…
And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
It's incredibly sad people have to resort to this, but it's a damn good resource. Use it. Spread awareness. Maybe one day people with physical disabilities won't need DIYs like this. But until then, reblog and share.
Can i talk about the drink voucher scene from Deltarune chapter 5 because i want to because it seems significant, especially because i thinkk the game tries to get you to watch it like twice
I’ve seen a lot of CHUDS (just kidding) saying that the blue-and-pink drink refers to Ralsei’s crush on Kris, and frankly… I’m not sure if that’s accurate, or if it is I feel like people are taking the wrong message. Let me explain, this theory posits that
1. Ralsei looked at the blue-and-pink drink the longest because he likes Kris, who wears blue and pink.
2. Flowery says “Just get your fav, and don’t worry about Kris.”
3. Takeaway would be?? Pursue your romantic feelings regardless of the other person’s feelings???
idk maybe im misreading it because im biased toward a different interpretation but tbh it doesn’t make sense for this scene to be about Ralsei’s romantic feelings, I mean what kind of scene meant to convey romantic feelings tells one of the people in the potential couple to not worry about what the other person wants? Also if the drink vouchers indicate romantic feelings I feel like Susie’s should be red-and-green since throughout the entire chapter it keeps bringing up her feelings for Noelle…?
Other possible meanings are that Ralsei is TRANSGENDER 👍🎉🔥🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵🏳️⚧️ or that this could be foreshadowing for a choice made later in the game or something. I’m gonna explain the latter before I get into the former.
In the cutscene Ralsei talks about the prophecy and Flowery tells him to have faith in himself, before he even brings up the drink vouchers. Now the two drinks Kris can pick (and by extension let Ralsei have the other one) are blue-and-pink or yellow-and-green, both of which are color schemes for Kris, one in the light world and one in the dark. Susie’s obviously purple in both. Ralsei seems to know things about the light world that SHOULD be impossible for him to know, so it’s theoretically possible for him to know the colors on the sweater that Kris wears everyday. Even if he doesn’t know, the message of this scene could be that if, for whatever reason, it came down to choosing between light or dark, Ralsei would choose dark. Which makes sense, he can’t live in light but can survive in any dark world, maybe even beyond the roaring since he’s not a normal darkner. idk just spit balling… now into the theory i actually subscribe to. (the transgender one)
So throughout the scene we get a lot of Ralsei worrying about the prophecy and talking about how he has to hold himself back or hide parts of himself, and Flowery tells him that he might have everything he needs within himself and to put his faith in himself, Flowery shortly after calls Ralsei an “impossibility” which could mean a lot of things I guess, possibly the fact that Ralsei can travel to any dark world and live?? but idk that doesn’t SEEM very impossible like Ralsei can explain why his castle town can host all kinds of darkners, and if Ralsei is in the prophecy as a hero then it totally makes sense that he’d be different… far cry from impossible if you ask me… so what could the impossibility refer to? Perhapssss a Princess fulfilling a prophecy made for a Prince? hmmm hmmm hmmm next evidence. Flowery then offers the three drink vouchers. and in the cutscene we can see two of them, just two, and neither of them are the voucher which the scene is literally all about. It’s the yellow-and-green voucher (shown as just yellow) and the purple voucher (it looks kind of pink but after using photoshop and my eyes to compare the colors when they’re in the same scene as Susie they are the color of her, if not slightly more purple, although I think that may be because my screenshot was probably fucking up the colors, if you can take a screenshot in-game and look at it with your own eyes you’ll see the voucher and Susie are the same color)
I also drew a line connecting to make sure that a certain two pixels were actually Ralsei’s hand outline and not a secret third voucher sneak peak. I’m just saying… suspicious that the voucher the scene is literally all about is the specific one you can’t see in the sprite… it’s almost like… no… could it possibly… spoil a certain reveal if you saw what tint of blue-and-pink that we’re dealing with? sure is interesting that Ralsei in particular isn’t given a choice that matches his appearance, that could mean a whole lot of things thematically, and the choice he DOES make combined with his fur color just happens to make the color-scheme of the trans flag. hmm hmm speaking of suspicious color shenanigans
the flower beds in the back look a lot like the parts of the trans flag that symbolize trans women/ppl who are still transitioning/ppl with undefined gender identities, which seems so coincidental I almost wouldn’t bother bringing it up, if not for the fact that the arrangement is changed later so you can not clearly see that formation once that scene is over…. hrmmm
now the end of the scene, the part where Flowery calls Ralsei “princess” is this meat? or is this? cheat? Flowery’s a confusing guy, he almost ALMOST exclusively uses “princess” to refer to Susie specifically. I have seen two times where he uses “princesses” to refer to the group “Thought I heard some princesses in distress” and idk some other scene where he says he carried the gang LIKE princesses. This could mean that Flowery is kind of chillaxed about using gendered terms, he DOES have a scene where he says “You’re with the boys. Even when some of them’s girls” while referring to a group with TWO count em 2 nonbinary people in it… but I do think it’s interesting that (as far as I know) the only time a main character other than Susie is called “princess” (singular) is the drink voucher scene. Which seems crazy and very much not coincidental to me because Kris is not only NOT a boy and definitely not a prophesied prince specifically, but they’re the child of Asgore who is a King in that dark world… sure “princess” still wouldn’t be a perfect term but it would fit them better than it’d seemingly fit Ralsei.
There’s also the fact the dark world begins with Ralsei tumbling out of a closet, and before the dark world that Ralsei can appear as a darling atop the tower climbing minigame and the way he talks about being a princess it’s very… not just silly dress-up time talk… like to me the way Ralsei talks during this scene sounds like he genuinely wants to try a new identity and not just wear some feminine clothes (which he does ALL THE TIME without talking about it at all, let alone in such a self-conscious manner, seeking approval from Kris before leaning into it or giving up on it immediately if that approval is not given)
I do think it’s interesting how much Ralsei is associated with princess stuff despite being stated to be a prince in the prophecy… like sure maybe he’s just a cis guy who likes cute frivolous things which happen to be so princess-core, i mean Susie is seemingly “the girl” in the prophecy but she tells Kris to vote for her as King for the voting during the festival and I think one of her hair style choices was apparently chosen from a boyzz magazine or smthn(?) the only difference is Susie seemingly wants to change the prophecy and believes she can (shown at the end of chapter 4’s dark world) and Ralsei doesn’t think this, which is the only reason I can imagine he’d be hiding this side of himself since queerness-based discrimination is genuinely non-existent in deltarune. idk though it’s tough… when gender is so inconsequential in this game… how can you tell what’s subtext and what’s you being a technically conformist dingus? do i just think that just because something LOOKS cool THAT makes it correct!? is that who i’ve become? well only if I’m wrong… which would be totally sucks…. but we’ll see…
