In the early twenty-first century, "Garfield" is a name, made famous by the 20th president of the United States, James Garfield, as well as an extremely popular newspaper comic about a lazy orange cat with said name.

The name is thought to be habitational, referring to to a specific location at the time of the first Garfield's naming. Garfield in turn comes from the Old English "gar" (meaning "spear") and "feld" (meaning "field"), as in a field of spears, which may refer to a site of a battle or may refer to metaphorical spears in the form of plants that appear like them.

In Modern English, gar refers to a type of fish. It is a shortening of "garfish" meaning "spear (or pike) fish". This is the same "gar" as in Garfield.

The above is a format of joke where a person deliberately misunderstands a word or phrase. In this case, they are expressing confusion over why fish would be in a field. But few people in the early twenty-first century would actually be confused. Perhaps an individual learning English might question the name, but homonyms and etymologically linked words (like garfish and Garfield) are known concepts.

Do you have anything that goes over non-sexual paraphilias? I wanna understand how they work as I thought they were tied to arousal so I just wanna understand <:]

Paraphilias are attraction OR arousal. The hyperfocus from the psych field and kink spaces on sexual orientations is a result of amatonormativity.

There's not really much to go over, so I'm unsure what to say. If a person says they're romantically interested in animals, what are they? A romantic zoophile.

If an adult has queerplatonic attraction towards children, what are they? A queerplatonic MAP.

If a person likes bondage and spanking for sensual purposes rather than sexual ones, what is that? BDSM.

I don't really know what else to say on the matter. The assumption that paraphilias are sexual by nature is just classic amatonormativity. Its like when people hear the term "lesbian" and think that means "sexual attraction to women", when it could instead be referring to romantic attraction or nonrose attraction.

essentially speaking over and forcing the word "deformed" onto people like me who don't want it. "deformed" does not have the same connotations as disabled. it does not have the same connotations as narcissist. speaking as someone who has npd. the word "deformity/deformed" is inherently pathologizing and dehumanizing. i am not deformed. i am physically disabled and intersex.

the blog runner (dhddmods) also has no facial or body differences. something to keep in mind.
