Sooooo we know More Than You Know has been on hiatus for over a year... but we just began an entirely new fanfic. Anyone interested in a transfemme!Reid fic? Anyone???

We posted the first chapter!

Definitely! There are too few transfem!Reid fics - only one non-slash - on AO3. The non-slash one is called "Juliana Reid" in case you guys haven't read it already.
(I really want to write one myself, but depression and burnout are hindering me.)
(If you take ideas, the Maeve arc would be interesting to see with transfem!Reid. Preferably if she survives. Reid seriously deserves some happiness and there are also too few fics around where she lives. But it's totally okay if you have other ideas. It's your fic after all.)
(Sorry for the rambling.)
Oh my gosh lesbians you're a genius, we considered moreid and we still might but we love the idea of incorporating maeve, the world needs more maeve fix-it fics! We really love the idea of Derek falling in love with Spencer once she transitions because he (and the rest of the team) get to see her actually happy and comfortable for the first time!
Also we haven't read Juliana, we are going to read it RIGHT NOW along with a bunch of other transfemme media in an attempt to get this fic as relatable and realistic as possible!
Side note we love ideas and thank you for your reply!

guys can we please talk about the relationship between aaron hotchner and sound. how he tells that agent in natural born killer "first of all, don't shout at me", the way he flinches with his whole body when he has to listen to emily get beaten up by cyrus in minimal loss, the way his hearing becomes impaired after lofi, when he had to listened to haley get shot over the phone.
aaron who never raises his voice unless he absolutely has to, when he knows that it's most effective to fill the air with your own loud anger. aaron who near whispers when he speaks to victims. aaron who smiles when the team chatter about something, listening to their joy. aaron who fell in love with haley after watching her rehearse for an opera in high school. aaron who works in a quiet office, his only personal bubble of silence.
im not sure if this makes sense or if any of this speaks to his character but he has such an interesting relationship with sound.

I've come to realize I'm more married to this team than I ever was to three ex-wives
Just a reminder that Reid is not helpless in the face of authority. This is a man who told Strauss to her face that she was taking the easy way before saying ‘the problem is I have an eidetic memory, and that’s not what happened.’ This is the man who told an entire station of police officers that they could’ve prevented a death before sarcastically yelling at Hotch ‘oh you’re punishing me?.’ This man sat slouched in his seat whilst his team were all sat pin straight in front of a board of people who wanted them all fired and said ‘this is calm and it’s doctor.’ He looked Linda Barnes in the eyes whilst she was in the process of trying to destroy the team and said ‘if you’re going I’m not.’ This man does not care about authority.
you can be pro-endo and traumagenic, it does not make you invalid as a traumagenic system btw
My favourite thing about Luke and Elle’s love for Reid’s infodumping is that they don’t love what he’s saying. They don’t necessarily find what he is saying interesting, they find the fact that knows it interesting, and this is something Reid barely gets.
Quite often when Reid shows his knowledge, he is faced with some form of negative reaction: ‘I’m sorry for asking’ ‘sorry I asked’ ‘where did you find this kid?’ ‘What kind of doctor are you?’ ‘You guessed. Is this guy actually a genius.’ This is not me hating on the characters who say these things at all, but I feel like it’s rare that the writers give us characters who love the fact that Reid just knows things.
Luke and Elle are a breath of fresh air because they (along with Hotch in 1x04) actually stop to think ‘wow, isn’t it amazing that this guy knows this stuff?’ They don’t see it as some weird or annoying personality trait of Reid’s, they genuinely smile when he talks and they compliment him and they are happy to be in his presence because of it, not in spite of it.
Reid spent his entire life being told that he was weird and nerdy and being bullied and outcasted because of it and Luke and Elle are the only characters who see this trait of his as something positive.
hotch and morgan being weirdly in sync
last day of autism awareness month please be aware of him
Jason Gideon was an amazing agent but a bad mentor and those two things can coexist
Don’t get me wrong; he had every right to leave his job after it became too much and that in turn meant he had every right to leave Spencer, but he should’ve never been mentoring Spencer in the first place because who brings a 21 year old to the BAU
They had to make so many exceptions to allow Reid into the field.
PSA: Reid isn’t bad with technology, he just doesn’t like it
Quite often people misinterpret Reid’s dislike of technology as an inability to work it. Despite that one time when Reid messes up Garcia’s presentation, Reid is extremely competent with technology and is often who Hotch goes to where Garcia can’t help e.g. asking him to go through the unsub’s computer or asking him to examine certain phone calls (we see this a lot in season 4).
He also has degrees from MIT and CalTech and one of his doctorates is in engineering- there’s no way he could be poor with technology with this.
Reid’s dislike for technology isn’t because he is bad with it, but could be due to his upbringing. He grew up with a mum who valued old literature and old ways of doing things; in her eyes the best way to learn is to have something read to you. He was taught to value a physical presence over a virtual one; we can see this through his stacks of books in his apartment. It’d be cheaper for him to just find these things online but he values a concrete presence because his mum raised him to
Another reason why he isn’t a fan of technology could be due to his favourite book as a child which is revealed in season 2 to be a book called Empty Planet; a book which portrays technology as the root of the earth’s future destruction. Considering he read this at such an impressionable age (6) where he would be first learning what technology is, it’s understandable he’d learn to see it as an issue
A final reason could just be that physical copies of things are easier for him when trying to visualise probable patterns or connections. It could be less that he hates technology and more that he finds it inconvenient from a visual perspective
But don’t get it twisted; he isn’t bad with technology
What makes Spencer Reid so different from your classic nerdy character?
One thing that is clearly noticeable is his lack of arrogance. Quite often with nerdy characters in media, there’s a certain superiority complex within them that shows that they clearly think of themselves as better than other people. Reid doesn’t seem to have this and instead seems to view himself in a more self deprecating light. He sees himself as less than Morgan despite being much smarter than him, because he doesn’t see his intelligence as a trait that makes him better than anyone.
From this lack of arrogance is also a self awareness. He is very aware that he is an enigma and that everyone around him is intelligent, they just aren’t the same type of intelligent as him. He respects that he is different and that doesn’t make him better.
Another thing that separates him from other nerdy characters is his lack of competitiveness. He never tries to be the smartest person in the room and he doesn’t try and talk over anyone or try to take the case in his own hands because he thinks he knows better. He’s very trusting that everyone can do their jobs even without an IQ of 187 and he never once feels like he has fo assert his intelligence in order to be praised.
A final trait is one I’ve brought up previously, but it’s his ability to be emotional. Quite often with nerdy characters, we don’t see them portray emotions in a healthy way because they believe that emotions are illogical and they can only follow logic. Reid is not like this; he will cry and he will be angry and he will be scared and he will be happy. He’s one of the most emotionally vulnerable people on the team.

I think people really underestimate the amount of strangeness that the average person just ignores. When it comes to systems (specifically covert systems), the amount of signs of alters that people will just ignore, seems really weird. Until you think about the fact that when a singlet meets a system, they obviously assume you’re a singlet. They get used to different alters just being part of who you are.
For example, “oh, you act like a child sometimes? That’s just who you are.” “Your personality changes a lot? That’s just how your personality is.” They get to know “you” as a sum of your alters. So they’re so used to alters fronting, they may have a hard time realizing that they even are alters.
