Who can relate to these sleepy trees? I saw this tree on campus and I giggled at the thought of a bunch of napping trees. #watercolor #wtrclr #wtr #trees #sleepy #nap #tired #lazylog #lazy #afternoonnap #illustration (at Indio, California)

Yar! She’s finished! I present my cardboard Equípale chair. Made from 98% cardboard 1% hot glue and 1% twine lol #cardboard #chair #traditionalmexican #3D #hotglue #hotgluegun #hotglueishot #craft #design #formfollowsfunction #itshot #thesunburns #final #art #artfinal
She’s coming together nicely! 🤓 gunna burn the midnight oil to get her sit ready. I still need to put a few more supports, the backbone, the actual seat, and of course the backing. ☕️ will be brewing all night. Also I’ve been listening to 80’s music a lot... Whitney Houston is the jam! #equipale #equipalechairs #cardboard #3d #design #formfollowsfunction #chair #mexican #traditional #art (at Indio, California)

MARE
As a child I was deathly afraid of aliens. I recall a memory when I was about six or seven lying in my bed one night shaking uncontrollably; not because I was cold, or some supernatural event was taking place, but because I could hear through the wall into the living room where my parents were watching one of those History Channel alien documentaries. When I came out to tell them I was scared I saw there on the T.V. lying on a metal examination table surrounded by doctors or scientists in white surgeon garb- the cold lifeless cadaver of an “extra-terrestrial”. The body was so skinny you could see its bones with long slender limbs and grey skin that got darker around the joints, its head three times larger than a human with large pitch-black eyes and a small pursed mouth. As a child I took it to be real-true. My heart raced I instantly got cold and could have died right there. From that night on for the next four years every night was a battle with my imagination that aliens don’t exist and if they did they certainly weren’t in my room.
Mare explores my childhood imagination and recreates the scenes that played in my head as a kid. Borrowed styles from Steven Spielberg, Matt and Ross Duffer, Allen Daviau and Gregory Crewdson help in the production, setting, and aesthetic of the image. My aim is to treat each image as if it were a still from a movie. To achieve this, I have taken the advice from Crewdson when he says to “create a story”. Pairing this with the study of Allen Daviau’s use of light in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial I hope to emulate a cinematic feel and give the audience the ability to look back in time to a memory with me.
