There are places on the Internet the effect feels stronger than others. Places where the control and reality shifting duplicitousness is overwhelming. You can lie to yourself and say it's not the same here. You can tell yourself there are still good virtual spaces. I'm deeply in doubt.
We have built a panopticon for ourselves. We are willingly locking the doors and keeping ourselves inside. It's no way to live. The absurdity of it is astounding.
I don't know if I'll be back here. I've resisted deleting this account. It's my last tether to the online world. Fond memories and lots of lovely people remotely met. But I don't want to be part of anything that isn't real anymore.
Delete it all. Walk away from this mess. Without exaggeration or hyperbole, there is a real war to fight, it can not be fought virtually. They need our attention, it's the new gold, and we should give it to them. But not here. Not online.
Maybe we'll meet again. For real.
