i. my rules are very generic and common roleplay etiquette applies. ii. low activity; here for a good time, not a long time. i manage three other blogs and am honestly more of a dnd person (currently), but asoiaf is my not-so-secret love and somehow... i always come back to writing wyllas. even if it's 10 years later lmaaao iii. plot oriented. best way to start something is to reach out directly or continue meme replies. iv. verse flexible. favours medieval fantasy settings; no interest in modern-anything. vi. show, book and hc based. available for shipping, but i have a small bias for wyllas/sansa. vii. sideblog: barrowkings - contains other members of house dustin. including barbrey dustin and roderick "roddy the ruin" dustin.

portrayal notes: house dustin is a canon house in asoiaf, located in the north. there isn't a whole lot of material on them, and back when i wrote wyllas consistently, i created a lot of his family and house lore. obviously, this is all part of my interpretation!

house dustin claim to be descendants of the first king. their house founder relinquished the title at the close of the thousand years war.

death and respect for their dead is part of their house's identity. the great barrow, upon which barrow hall is built on, is a crypt. they maintain the graves of their dead, host celebrations in reverence of them, and put a great deal of stock into earning and keeping the favour of their ancestors. disappointing their dead ancestors is something they genuinely believe have real world consequences. if someone is looking to reverse their bad fortunes, a lengthy ritual must be performed in the barrow, overseen by the maester.

their ancestral weapon is a greataxe called sovereignty.

⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀sleep had still not settled in his mind and bones, adrenaline of battle still rampant in his blood. the young wolf had led them to battle and victorious they had emerged; that even those who had never seen a real battle before, born in the last years of the mad king's reign, had their chance to bloody their blades and feel the rush of death fast approaching.

here and there fires still burned and voices where carried through the night; seated upon a fallen log, the heir to the dreadfort kept polishing sword's blade, despite it being a more apt task for the squire he sent away. his hands sought something to do, not unlike his mind. scenes of battle lingered briefly in the corner of his mind, pushed aside when pale grey eyes found a larger familiar frame approaching. musician's ear, his, he recognised @lordustin already by steps alone, even now that they were battle heavy.

“⠀ ⠀ ⠀i have a proposition for you,⠀ ⠀ ⠀“ domeric welcomed him, the corners of his mouth twitching in something resembling a tired smile; sword set aside, he leans back to stretch his back. “⠀ ⠀ ⠀that longaxe of yours is hungry for blood.⠀ ⠀ ⠀“ he had seen him, for a moment when they had been almost shoulder to shoulder in mud, wielding that beast of a weapon as if weightless. mesmerising.

“⠀ ⠀ ⠀if you teach me how to wield that thing, i'll teach you the harp,⠀ ⠀ ⠀“ he offered, tilting his head to the side, looking at his cousin in interest. “⠀ ⠀ ⠀i fear i have nothing to teach on how to wield a sword,⠀ ⠀ ⠀“ words accompanied by a quiet laugh, “⠀ ⠀ ⠀would that interest you?⠀ ⠀ ⠀“

Wyllas worries for their horses. Bred for battle and bloodshed, aye, but even the strongest of warriors need care. His time is spent nourishing them with feed; brushing the debris from their shortened hairs; raking their hay so that their beds were full. An arduous task, but Wyllas' labours were of love for the animals in their charge, and a distraction much needed from the violence his hands have wrought. It is proof to himself he can both comfort and cleave — and this thought remains with him as he lumbers his way back to his tent, beholding Domeric tending to his weapon.

Domeric surprises him with the immediacy of his words; what surprises him less is that he offers an exchange in harp-play. ❝ You know I'm shite at the harp… ❞ Wyllas replies, dumping his horse brushes into a nearby bucket. Oh, his cousin as tried countless times — since they were boys and old enough to grip anything of substance. Domeric has always had the patience of a septa, sitting with him for the better part of a day, teaching him chords and ditties. Wyllas never could understood how it all came together, not like Domeric. ❝ It's the only harp you've brought with you, and I'd hate to snap a string. ❞

At last he sits, opposite his dearest cousin, hands rubbing the ache form his knees as if he were older than he were. ❝ You look tired. Trying to distract yourself like me? ❞ He teases, eyeing him curiously. He thinks, though, on the offer and of the thoughts that linger... ❝ All right then, aye. You can show me your harp, but don't blame me if I break it! As for the axe… I don't know what you could possibly want to learn. You know how to wield a weapon well enough. ❞ Another thought: Well enough may not be enough when facing down the Lannister host. Well enough might very well be the end of his cousin's life. ❝ Maybe… I can show you some basic things? Blocking and such. Battle is hectic, so it'd be best to know where to keep your eyes. ❞

speaking of horses.... being related to the ryswells through his mother, who are known for the quality of their bred horses and the crazy size of their herd, maaaaaybe bc wyllas has an affinity for caring for them, he has a little group of horses at barrow hall he's responsible for.

wyllas is decent enough at combat — from a training perspective. he's been taught melee combat with a variety of a weapons since he was young, but like a classic dustin, prefers to wield an axe over a sword. additionally, he's proficient at dual wielding, preferring to wield both an axe and a dirk.

aaaand also being a horse boy, he's pretty adept at riding!

wyllas being absolutely frantic during the battle at the red fork and fish feed bc............... he has never killed another man. as a lord's son, he's been trained in combat and while he's adept, putting his skills to use leave him shaken.

he probably freezes when he comes to face off against the first man that he encounters, and whatever skill he has just devolves into a frenzied fight to stay alive.

idk wyllas, by his stature, can easily be perceived as a grown man. he's tall and built after years spent training, but make no mistake... he's still young. he's barely out of his twenties and struggles to inhabit the space that's expected of him. he's future lord of his house — but he's riddled with self-doubt. his shaky self-confidence causes wyllas to intentionally shrink himself to fit into smaller, unassuming roles.

wyllas hairstyles? his hair is red and curly, generally wears it loose, but in times of battle, he ties into a half-ponytail like his father <3
