Sonya Blade: A shockingly accurate and relatable portrayal of how being underestimated and undermined by your male peers (or even fellow women), especially in a male dominated space like the military, can cause women to feel the need to push themselves past their own limits to keep up with their male peers and isolate themselves by refusing to accept help or admit their struggles because admitting that would be admitting that the people who convinced them they were weak were right all along. Additionally, Sonya was and still is a portrayal of a woman who isn’t very traditionally “girly” (one could maybe say tomboyish?) but isn’t ashamed of her femininity, just doesn’t present in a hyperfeminine manner often depicted in fictional media, which is very refreshing. Overall, a very grounded, relatable, fleshed out, and intriguing depiction of a woman very ahead of its time in my opinion as an afab person

Of the two Zooble is the most *agreeable* trans rep because they’re out from the get-go, funny, and are also largely considered morally acceptable in their actions.

For me its because Jax’s transness only became outright at the last possible minute, any signs before the finale being either so subtle they're easily misinterpreted or just straight up misogynistic behavior labeled by fans as a coping mechanism. Jax's transness felt like a last minute decision, while Zooble's transness is outright and a crucial part of their conflict rather than a theory or vague suggestion

Jax isn't bad rep imo (coming from a trans person) because they're flawed and antagonist while Zooble is more "digestible and agreeable"

They're bad rep because their transness comes across as more of a possible alternate suggestion rather than an intentional undeniable truth

If Jax were handled differently, I think she had the potential to be incredible trans rep- a messy, imperfect representation of the trans experience- but I feel like Zooble was the better example.

Both characters are messy, imperfect, hilarious, and their experiences resonated with many trans fans, but at the end of the day, in my opinion Zooble was the better trans rep because while Jax could easily be misinterpreted as a cis man struggling with internalized misogyny and toxic masculinity, Zooble is undeniably trans in every sense
