Going to see Mortal Kombat 2 with my dad, time to bring out the ol uniform

I was NOT expecting that movie to be the visual masterpiece it was holy shit, dude…

The environments, the lighting, the choreography (which used real martial arts techniques I clocked real quick as a veteran martial artist), the practical effects, the special effects, the costume designs- it was all just so unexpectedly beautiful and masterfully done

After the first movie, I was expecting it to be fun but mediocre at best but no! Turned out to be my favorite film of the year so far

That movie even made me cry actual tears at some point which is a huge achievement for a movie to pull off

To me, Johnny Cage is the kind of guy to break damn near every bone in his body and walk it off like a champ but the moment he stubs his toe all of a sudden the world is ending

Realizing that one of the reasons I loved the cage family's relationships/storyline in mkx so much was because I resonated with it a lot as a former military child/military brat

I found Cassie's experiences with having an active duty family member who was absent for much of your life growing up causing this huge divide between the two of you incredibly relatable. You don't hate each other, quite the opposite, but there's definitely a disconnect, like a wall, especially when compared to your other parent who stayed by your side your entire life, forming an exceptionally strong and fond bond in the process

I feel like stories like that surrounding military families aren't very common in media, so it really touched me in a way I dont think any other media has and I'm only just fully realizing it
