— the afternoon’s calm is broken by gradually unsteadying clipping of scissors. sheets of paper are spread across the table, dwindling with each snipped at the edges. even so, comfortable quiet takes instead of a conversation, at least until —

there’s a pile of clean paper snowflakes in front of otabek, his fingers numb at the tips, but yuri’s seems to be quite a bit smaller. his expression also seems to be slipping from a little uncomfortable to frustrated to flat-out angry.

his sigh is almost silent, not carrying across the table, but still he reaches across & adjusts yuri’s hands. he’s not very tactile — he doesn’t dislike touching people or being touched, necessarily, but it’s not his favorite thing to do. his fingers peel back after a second, & he squints across the table, because even so —
