Adam Foltz, now on the Texas payroll, played a key role in Wisconsin's redistricting last decade. A federal court threw out some of the maps and called the effort Foltz was involved in "an all but shameful attempt to hide the redistricting process from public scrutiny."

Kevin Rebeck suggests Manitoba needs to up minimum wage closer to $20/hour amid inflation

Hundreds walked from near the Manitoba Legislature down Portage Avenue on Monday for the annual Labour Day March & Picnic in Winnipeg.

Kevin Rebeck, president of the Manitoba Federation of Labour, said the day was about celebrating gains made by the labour movement, as well as highlighting areas where there is still room for advancement in the fight for workers’ rights.

The labour organization wants the Stefanson government to consider going beyond its recent $15-hour minimum wage increase commitment amid the rising cost of living due to inflation.

“I have to admit, if you told me back in 2016 that this government was going to make minimum wage $15 an hour, I would’ve been happy then,” Rebeck told a crowd of supporters.

“But we’ve seen inflation and the increases to the cost of living since then and that just doesn’t cut it…What families are facing, a living wage is closer to $20 than $15.”

It should be $25/hr…

When I finally got a job willing to pay just $20/hr. The amount of financial stability I had was astounding. I was actually making a little bit of savings.

Anything less than $20/hr isn’t enough to live off of. Especially if you have student loans to pay off.

We wanted $15/hr 20 years ago.

Now that they’ve been dragged kicking & screaming to $15/hr workers need far more than that to survive.

Because that’s what minimum wage is. Minimum survivable wage. In their rush to live extravagant lifestyles, employers have lost sight of their basic humanity.

burning to death because i can’t remember the secret maneuver that’s different from every other car on earth or because i never read the manual or because it’s a rental or because it’s a rideshare or because i’m in the back seat and the driver is incapacitated (due to the fire currently burning us to death) or i’m a child
