It’s time to talk about feelings with some of NSW’s best songwriters, Spencer Scott, Rachel Maria Cox and Bofolk Ballico, as they traverse across the state this weekend for three terrific gigs. You may get sad, but you will not be disappointed.
Down south, Max Quinn’s Onomatopenis are playing at a cool rock show on Saturday. Self Talk are a very cool band and I am excited to hear this EP so if you are in Melbourne you should go and hear it live to help them welcome it into the world.

We are super proud to announce that Lost Boy Records will be releasing an Australian pressing of Dikembe’s upcoming record Hail Something. Stay tuned for more information in the next week or so, but for now you can check out the first song off of the record ‘Just Explode’ over here via The Fest .
The band will be self-releasing the LP in America, whilst Dog Knights Productions look after the UK release.
LostBoyRecords are thrilled to announce the release of the new EP from Max Quinn’s Onomatopenis, Carpool Tunnel Syndrome on May 5. Preorders are available now from our online store.
Having digitally self-released a mini-album and singles over the past year and a half, this will be their first physical release, and a vinyl 7” nonetheless. The first single from the 7”, ‘Waterloo’, was written as an ode to the Sydney suburb in which the titular singer-songwriter lived. Released late last year, the track was added to triple j Unearthed rotation and received community radio support around the country, with punters revelling in the clever wordplay and striking guitar hooks characteristic of the band’s music. The deadpan music video premiered on Music Feeds in November, and hints at what you might expect from the rest of the EP – Quinn staring flatly into the abyss, armed with nothing but self-deprecating wit and a couple of memorable choruses.
Moving cities (once again) to Melbourne, the Ballina-born Quinn has established a new troupe of musicians, and over the course of the last month, they’ve supported the likes of triple j upstarts Alex Lahey and Camp Cope, as well as Melbourne legends Ceres and personal hero Jeff Rosenstock (USA). With the release of Carpool Tunnel Syndrome, Max Quinn’s Onomatopenis are ready to unleash their distinct pop songs imbued with punk sensibility on stages and airwaves around Australia.
Recorded at Hercules Studios with Tom and Sean Astill (assistant engineers for Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes LP). Mastered by Andrew Edgeson at 301 (Matt Corby, Griswolds). Mastered for vinyl by Jacob Munnery at Clockwork (Smith Street Band, The Bennies).
Meridian are flying over to play songs with our best friends Pinch Hitter and it’s gonna be super lovely.
Separated by half the world and bunkered down in New York and Sydney working on their second album, Pinch Hitter are taking a brake from recording to once again tour with Meridian (Cleveland, Ohio) in Australia.
A chance meeting between Meridian's Max Stern (Signals Midwest) and Pinch Hitter's Dave Drayton (Milhouse, Between The Devil & The Deep) in 2013 led to a gig together in a Cleveland bowling alley, followed by an Australian tour with Wil Wagner (Smith Street Band) in 2014, and a split 7" between the two bands released last year on LostBoyRecords and Youth Conspiracy Records ahead of a three-week US tour. Following the recent release of their collaborative Daytrotter session Eunoia Collective, Lost Boy Records, and Microphone & Loudspeaker are proud to present the Pinch Hitter & Meridian 2016 Australian Tour this May.

Spencer is opening up the proceedings of this terrific lineup tomorrow night at around 9pm. I have loved watching Bofolk’s music develop and mature over the last few years, and am stoked to finally hear this record. Being a complete movie fanatic, Bofolk Ballico has created a concept album of sorts, with each of the five tracks being based on a movie or collection of movies. Genius. For those already not already in the know, Isaac Graham is also playing on the night, and he is, in my humble opinion, one of the finest songwriters in Australia. Newy turn up for this - it’s going to be a great night of live and local music, in support of A+ independent music.
