timelessmistake:
Something happens to him, and she can’t quite understand it. But it’s like he needs a moment, and for some reason she gives him it. She balances herself as he falls, staring at him oddly. Jack. How quaint.
“Jack,” she repeats after him instead of giving him her name. Sliding off of him slowly, she backs up. Even with giving him his space, her muscles are ready to spring back to action. Giving him a look over, she decides her earlier opinion was correct. He is cute.
She couldn’t trust cute.
“Now Jack…” she says with a slight grin, walking around him in a wide circle. “Why would you be hunting little ol me? Do I look like a threat to you, mate?” Her appearance was deceiving. Slight in figure and stature, with the biggest blue eyes in the Hopkins family. She looked like an innocent school girl, but she could burn this whole city to the ground.
Standing slowly, Jack feels like she helped him somehow whether she meant to or not. Raising an eyebrow in her direction, he realizes whatever he thought could happen was just wishful thinking. Even though he thinks he can trust her after following her as long as he did, she still can't just drop her guard because he tells her she can. Not providing her name is a clear sign that she's not about to just have a conversation with him, so he stays ready for anything.
The predatory dance she was doing causes him to mimic her movements in the opposite direction. He wants to keep out of her reach, but the documents did say she’s quick without elaboration. Staying cautious is the best way to approach this especially since he doesn't know what her powers are. It's funny sometimes how little information is provided on their bounties. “Who said I was hunting you?” he smiles when he asks, “Maybe looks are deceiving.”
His fingers latch onto one of his stun batons just in case, but he doesn't take it out just yet because he doesn't need it. He would much rather avoid a fight, but he is not an idiot. Jack knows he is not going to bring her in no matter what happens. She doesn't know that and telling her isn't going to make her less wary. He just wants to know why she’s being hunted. “Why do you think you’re being hunted, did you do something? You can’t even seem to tell me your name...”
