What if Zoey hates surprises?

What if they remind her of those days when she would open her eyes after being led blindly somewhere by her bullies friends after being told that they had a surprise for her, only to realize that she was locked and left alone inside a dark room?

What if they reminded her of when she opened her locker to find the entire thing either trashed or empty? All of her stuff either torn to pieces or just—gone?

What if they reminded her that she wasn’t completely aware of what others were thinking of her? That she wasn’t safe? That they didn’t actually like her. That she never belonged.

What if they reminded her of Rumi and Mira leaving a piece of clothing she had looked at, but passed by in a store, at the foot of her bed?

What if they reminded her of when they took time out of their day to celebrate her birthday?

What if they reminded her of when, during a concert, Rumi and Mira had told her to stop singing mid show so she could hear their fans singing their own songs back to them? Songs that she wrote. Songs written with a passion that Zoey could never have dreamed of other people appreciating about her.

What if they reminded Zoey that she was loved? That she isn’t too much? That she is enough?

The more I see tadc consumers discuss the show the more I realize this shit was made for adults and was consumed by children. It was written with adults in mind, it has adult humor, and adult subjects, but children are consuming it and that's why I'm getting pissed off when I read Jax takes.

"why don't they let any of the characters feel true disgust towards Jax and throw him to the wolves" like tell me you've never worked a job before; you kinda have to, under the circumstances of survival, work with people you don't like.

And beyond that, it's really, really hard to hate someone truly and deeply as an adult. How can you feel disgust for someone when they're younger than you and making horrible decisions that you might have when you were that age? I mean even being 25 with 18-20 year old friends who make shitty decisions or say shitty things, I can recognize I was just like that when I was that age and move on.

There isn't some purified hatred that can just be tapped into for someone mean to you and your friends. Adult relationships are complicated and messy. They didn't throw out Jax or feel horrid disgust for her because they knew she was young and they knew she was lashing out (zooble did at least). It's more complicated than some story book villain shit.

After the girls talk about the events of the Idol awards, do you ever wonder if Mira thinks about the fact that she just… gave up?

In her mind, she’s probably fretting over how everyone else needed a reason. An offer. Rumi had lost everything she had ever worked for in the span of less than an hour. Gwi-ma promised Bobby and Zoey that they would never be alone, and have a place to belong. Mira? Gwi-ma didn’t offer her anything. She was reminded that she didn’t deserve a family, and willingly walked towards Gwi-ma’s flames.

She pushed two of the people she loved most away. She raised her weapon at Rumi. She left Zoey. She had nothing to live for after that. Not when everyone she loved was pretty much gone.
