Hey! Yes I am mixed.  It is a pain to take care of my hair and I had to do a lot...a lot of researching. Its just a guess and check I guess. You guess if you like a product, if it doesn’t work out, it goes in the bucket of disappointments. :P

Yes! It has been a while...but I finally edited another video. Ill try to post more posts on what has happened. Keeping up with tumblr is like a part time job. This is when I went to Tokyo and got to visit Aarthi @chocolatebearexchange. It was a lot of fun. So much fun I couldnt put everything in the video.

Saffron ( @lostinthelandofjapan ) and her host sister Raina left for Matsuyama today. They were only here for three days, and those days just ran away from us. I felt like we did so much, and yet there’s still so much we didn’t do. I miss both of them like crazy- I’m in my room now, and it feels so lonely without them. Their guest slippers are still in the corner, and the extra futons that Saffron and I slept on are stacked in the corner. The house was so lively, and now it’s gone into this strange silence…

I was just listening to “RPG” by Sekai No Owari, and the one line of the chorus goes, “僕らはもう一人じゃない”- meaning that “We am not alone anymore”. But as I sing it to myself I know that the opposite is true; once again I’m on my own…

HAPPY 100 DAYS!!!! Yes, today is my hundredth day here in Japan, and I cannot believe that I’ve made it this far somehow. And to celebrate this day I had some friends with me from Matsuyama- Saffron ( @lostinthelandofjapan ) and her host sister, Raine! Saffron is finally here- the last time I saw her was the weekend before departure back in August. It was so good to hug her again! This was actually both of their first times to Tokyo, so we spent the day exploring. I also had my calligraphy club performance today where I wrote for the first time in front of an audience. It made me nervous, but I pulled through and the performance went great.

I heard about the earthquake in Japan. Are you okay??

If you are talking about the one yesterday, I'm completely okay!! It hit the other most southern main island of Japan. I believe it was the south part of that island. There were rumors of a 30cm tsunami, but later lifted. I have only been through small little earthquakes that might jiggle that plants in the house, but @chocolatebearexchange has been through a really bad earthquake a couple weeks back. She goes through earthquake training and everything now. My host mom said that people say that there will be a really bad earthquake in 30 years on Shikoku. So there is 20 years left I think. She also says that they keep changing the years, so nothing official I think. All in all, I am okay and hopefully everyone who was in the earthquake is okay.

What is your favorite restaurant in Japan?

Right now it's the okonomiyaki place. It's like one of my favorite places to eat. Also one of my fav foods here in Japan. It's basically lettuce, meats, flour water mixture, seasoning, other various veggies, maybe some sea food if you wanna be fancy. And then you fry it like a pancake. It can be served with rice or udon. Maybe a side of salad or chicken. But it's really really good. I'll have to make it for you one time. You'll want it like everyday.

are you going to have to repeat a year of high school in your american high school because of your year in Japan.

Hello! I am not going to have to repeat a year, but that is because when I was in middle school, I earned credits for the high school courses I took. Some people take summer school. I am going to have to double up on English when I get back though. And math as well I think. Fingers crossed!

Hello! I'm a future rye exchange student, and my interview is in a few days. Do you have any advice on the interview process? What kinds of questions do they ask? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance ^_−☆

Hi! Oh my goodness I am so excited for you! I was so nervous when I was going into the interviews. I'll give you some tips, but these are just my opinion. (Anyone else can chime in to help!) •Stay Confident- know why you are going. It's a great adventure and they want to know if you can handle it. Show them you can. •Be Honest- if you lie in the interviews, some how it's going to end up really badly. For example, if you said on your application that you speak fluent German, and you o into the interview not knowing any, they could ask you to speak it, see that you lied and won't trust you anymore. So just be honest. •Stay Positive- some questions may tick you off a bit or make you wonder why they would ask that. You might not want to answer. Make sure you keep a smile on your face. Rotary will teach you the "Rotary Plastic Smile" in the future. Basically just smile all the time, even if it's not real. •Ask Questions- doing this can show that you are interested in the program. They really like to see that you are taking initiative. •Be Open- tell them about your day, ask about theirs. Tell them about your hobbies or what you like to eat on a daily basis. When I did this they got a laugh and got to know me more. •Be Yourself!- this is the most important one. Make them fall in love with your personality. Absolutely do not go on pretending to be someone else. Let them pick you for you!I hope these help! I know there are more people out there who would love to give you advice.
