She never saw the assassin's blade until it was protruding from Loki's chest.

Screams and shouts, rushing guards surrounding them as Loki collapsed forward. More rushing to catch the would be killer. Sif dropped with him, grabbing at his shoulders and easing him down to the ground.

The blade hadn't been meant for him. She could see it in his expression. He'd seen the assassin and stepped in the way of the blade that would have gone in her back and into her heart. And now it was protruding so closely to his own.

“Don't,” she ordered him. “Don't you dare.”

Loki's lips twitched slightly even as he grimaced in pain and difficulty breathing. “You thinking to order a Prince, Lady?” he asked, blood wetting his lips.

“No,” she hissed at him, hands coming the press part of her torn sleeve around the blade. “I'm not making an order, you fool. I'm threatening you. If you die, Loki, so help me, I will kill you myself.”

He coughed when he tried to laugh, more blood splattering his lips and chin. “A contradiction as always,” Loki accused. “I have no doubt you would manage such a feat.”
