I’ve just watched the Cursed Child play with the other day and I genuinely LOVED it, but loads of people are talking about not considering it canon. Can someone tell me the reason??

To be honest I understand some reasons since they made Harry so mean in it and stuff like that. But the actual plot is def good enough to overlook that

One time I found out that some people I knew liked Harry Potter and we were chatting about it. And like they both started joking about how they thought Tonks was a lesbian and that Remadora didn’t make sense. So I decided to bring up Remus and I was like “haha but what about Remus and Sirius. Like there’s always so much tension between them”

After seeing that memory of his father, Harry literally risked expulsion by breaking into Umbridge’s office to talk to Remus and Sirius. HE RISKED SO MUCH JUST TO TRY AND FIND CONFIRMATION THAT JAMES WAS ACTUALLY A GOOD PERSON !!!!

P.s…… is it unpopular to say James Potter is definitely a grey character…..

One character in Harry Potter that I feel doesn’t get enough attention is Dudley. I feel like there’s so much to analyse with his character but he’s just dumbed down to an idiot bully.

I’m not defending his actions towards Harry growing up, but there’s obviously a REASON he’s like this from such a young age. He’s defo had deep influence from Petunia and Vernon and the way they act. I think it’s extremely unhealthy to just immediately say he’s a bad person without any thinking.

In the books (it got cut from the movies) we get to see Dudley apologise to Harry, showing that now that he’s grown he’s starting to form his own opinions and realising that Harry clearly shouldn’t be treated the way he is. I think this is such an important scene that people gloss over.

He’d also grown so spoilt as a child. CLEARLY Petunia and Vernons fault. He grew up expecting to be treated just as they treat him and this is basically encouraged by Petunia and Vernon. They let him do what he wanted, to the point of them overfeeding him to an extremely unhealthy extent.

It’s like Harry and Dudley both got fed poison, just Dudley got fed a weaker poison. It’s still dangerous and damaging to both of them, but ‘Dudley’s poison isn’t that bad, he didn’t even have it as bad as Harry did!’ This is a bad mindset.
