Birthday Presents
So it’s my friend’s birthday, right? And she LOVES Piggy–calls him her son and everything. So I um, decided to torture her a little bit:
The pic quality is crap so you can’t read it, but it says “You’re turning 16! Piggy is dead. He will never turn 16. But that’s okay. He never stood a chance, anyway.”
And here’s the out/inside of her birthday card:
I love making my friends cry aaaaahahaa ; v ;
Hmmmmm
Piggy: [trying to get everyone to listen to Ralph] Listen up fives, a ten is speaking!
Ralph: Technically, I'm an eleven, but thanks Piggy.
Maurice: ROGER IS THAT A WEED?
Roger: No this is a stic--
Maurice: I AM CALLING THE POLICE *dials 911 in the microwave*
Hey kids. I know you're struggling right now, but I'm here to tell you that everything will get worse.
-Simon, shortly before his death
I wrote my opinion on Jack
(sorry for bad english)
Jack: I really liked Jack, he is that unmissable rival character who just want make the hero’s life a living hell, and while I think he’s well written i have mixed feelings about him, for the first half Jack is rather interesting, pre-island Jack was a ice king who seeks perfection and complete control on his choir and he probably repressed his emotions a lot, but now on the island he isn’t the chief anymore; he likes his new leader so he starts to have new interests (hunt) and starts to show more his emotions, he almost develops a new personality, instead of being a ice king he is now a smug middle-school bully, in the book we see Jack have also some hidden depths, it’s highly probable Jack didn’t had any friend before the island but desperately wants one at least, if you reread Chapter 1, you will notice he started to like Ralph just after he was nice to Jack and he let him have the choir, after that he tries to spend a lot of time with Ralph and he starts to become jealous of Piggy for “stealing his friend”, and after when he leave the group and he see his choir followed him the book say he seemed the happiest person in the world; another hidden depth is the fact he, for some reason, he is obsessed by seeking approval from his peers, especially from Ralph (when Jack killed the first pig he was so happy to show it to Ralph); see for example the scene when Simon gives Piggy his food and Jack scolds him, probably Jack felt like his hard work was for nothing, the reason he left Ralph’s group was his ideas, his interests, his hobbies and in a way Jack himself were rejected by Ralph &co.; poor Jack was crying when he left and I truly felt sad for him because I know the feeling when everyone disagree with you, it makes you feel like there is something wrong with you
It’s after he becomes a savage he let me down, “savage Jack” is heavily hyped by critics, fandom and even by the book itself, I had high expectations from Jack, but… it’s not like he becomes a full savage, he just reverts to his ice king “head boy” personality except he now he is crazy and a killer, the thing is after he leaves Ralph his screentime decreases a lot, and even then he shares it with others characters, many scene with Jack after he becomes a savage aren’t about “Jack the Savage” but are about “Jack and the savages”, like it’s Jack and the savages that kills mama pigs, it’s Jack and the savages that invite everybody to the party, it’s Jack and the savages that kills Simon, ecc. In the end Jack doesn’t stand out like I expected
Roger would be that one person that rocks the ferris wheel cart while the ride is stopped at the top just to torture everyone

My headcanons range from:
“Jack likely grew up in a very strict household and was probably starved of affection”
To things like:
“Ralph ate a butterfly once”
This post compelled me to search up if butterflies are edible.
@lotf-incorrect-quotes Well? ARE they?
After some extensive googling, the general consensus was that depending on the species and what they eat, they can be toxic (but not to a fatal extent). Apparently monarchs taste bitter but I did stumble across a research study in which an entomologist tried a few monarchs and said they just tasted like dry toast.
TL;DR: I do not condone trying this at home.
Piggy: “butterflies are toxic! How could you!?”
Ralph: *gagging and feeling sick* “jack told me that if you eat a butterfly your pee would be rainbow”
Piggy: “AND YOU ACTUALLY LISTENED TO HIM!?!?!”
Jack Merridew spelled backwards is 'Wedirrem Kcaj', which translates to 'perfection' in a language I just made up.
