the internet has moved on so much since i used tumblr regularly
it was one of the first social media platforms that felt truly expressive and creative, where you could carve out a little corner of the World Wide Web and curate it to your heart's content.
i wonder how many of us who grew up using it now have jobs that call upon the self-expression, social media skills and creativity that were honed in communication to anonymous audiences on this platform.
and i wonder how many of us grieve what feels like the last time/place where you could connect with others in a digital space that didn't feel like you were being cornered by advertising, influencers, and a need to be ahead of the next trend to remain relevant.
that said, it could also be because i'm 30 now, which means i started using this platform more than half my lifespan ago. and maybe i am just grieving a time where i felt liberated to share my feelings authentically because i didn't have the pressures of life to keep up with.
all in all, i would like to return to my little corner of self-expression and a carefully curated gallery of all the things i find interesting/beautiful. maybe this is the antidote.
