Icon by @teethhoarder 💖 I'm Lotus, I'm here, and I'm Queer. I write sometimes! I like Hetalia and the DCU. Trust me I'm very annoying about it on discord. Princecore is my ideal, but I'm actually broke. Active posting? No, but I will like your entire blog and that's a threat. I will also follow you regardless of fandom if you reblog cool memes! Really wanna write more, really need to be enabled. They/Them, fae/faem.
Gilbert, answering to a mostly silent invitation, tries not to make too much of a face at the store fronts in Budapest, despite having been there enough times already.
Instead, he both appreciates the view he gets of Erzsébet showing off her new blue jeans and seethes in envy. They're denim—for real denim, even if they aren't technically the American shit—and the color isn't half bad on her. Or the fit.
He wonders, for a moment, if it would be too petty to write West to ask for a pair of American made Levis just to one up her. Until her expression becomes devious and she reminds him that her new jeans will fade. And shrink. At which point he decides that he has got to get a pair of his own at all costs. And see hers through, obviously.
It's nice, for the most part. Walking together, catching up... Erzsébet's hair is curled up to her shoulders, but she's wearing it down again. Her shirt is cool, too, patterned and cut just above her new jeans.
He pulls at his suspender straps, feeling plain and underdressed in comparison. She's wearing an older pair of cat eye sunglasses, though, so they can't all be winners. He thinks about pointing it out, teasing her a little, but her expression turns... wobbly, and then hard.
Erzsébet looks around subtly. Gilbert can't help but mimic. She's moved them through to side streets, winding, heading somewhere. It's never the same with her. Always a thrill or a dread, never in between.
Erzsébet pulls her sunglasses up, expression grave.
"Do you miss him?"
Gilbert startles.
"Holy shit Lissy," he mutters, trying to laugh it off.
Anyways, I wanted to finally put my 10 gift card dollars to use, so here is what I came up with! The “reboot” whatever it's called animation trend!!!! ft. Greta Hayes
Happy Spooky Month Guys!!
Despite the multiple near crash outs about why I, a beginner animator with basically zero animation experience, would decide to commit to doing this…
I am really happy with how this turned out!
I haven't read any of the comics she's actually in, so most of my knowledge is based off of @starrykitty013 the goat! But hopefully all the tiny details I did add made sense :)
Laying down, it's hard to pretend it's for warmth anymore. Gilbert can't be getting any warmth from him. Still, Gilbert wraps his arms around him and Johann is weak enough to do the same.
The fire dances on. Distantly, he knows it a bad idea. Gilbert will fall asleep on him, and no one will keep the fire going. But… He presses his head against Gilbert’s chest and swears he can hear. Gilbert’s arms wrap around him. Johann keeps his loose. His hand twitches.
It’s not comfortable. There’s something. Awkward. Unwieldy. Something akin to the heavy weight of dirt. He doesn’t snort, but it’s a close thing. His heart is steady.
Then it stutters. Johann tenses.
“You were right.”
His muscles lock.
It’s instinct, really. The words are more like noise. They don’t make sense on his ears. He tries to make sense of them. They make even less sense.
He tightens his grip on Gilbert. “What?” His tongue is heavy and dry in his mouth.
Gilbert tips his head forward. Like he’s trying to curl in on himself. His breath is hot against Johann’s head.
“You were right,” he repeats, softer. Johann suddenly wishes he could see his face. His voice is too muted and dull to tell what he’s even trying to say. Johann almost shivers. He opens his mouth to get anything out, but Gilbert beats him to it. “About this. The war. Neutrality. Should’ve urged for action."
Having ousted the previous pro-Byzantine Doge in 804, Doge Obelerio agreed to recognize Frankish sovereignty over the inheritance of Rome in exchange for protection against Venice's Byzantine overlord. Now, a year later, the Doge goes to the court in Aachen to pay homage and take a Frankish bride.
Caught in the tension, Venice meets the self proclaimed Empire.

Uhh *dusts off this account* little piece of writing I did about Gilbert, Ducal Prussia at this time, in the 1640s, having to tend to a half/mostly-dead Brandenburg.
Johann doesn't have a speaking role in this but he's rotting very prettily
Gore warning I guess
He remembers; old linen that may have been white, once, stained with blood that had carried the stench of rot through the hallways. A shock of hair soaked in crimson, twisted limbs half in the open, their remaining skin so pale he could see the festering veins beneath. He had been sure his order was to attend to a corpse.
It must've been the madness, he'd thought. Years of war and ash in the air had choked out the last of their wits, and now he was senselessly trying to heal the dead.
And he had worked. He'd tirelessly clean away blackened flesh from countless open wounds, quell and wash away a steady flow of blood that should have exhausted itself weeks ago— pray in secret for the rot to spread and finally bloat the body so he could give up— never risking a glance at the eyes. It was a mistake he'd only made once, and the glassy, motionless grey followed him at night.
Too fresh for a corpse and still as if frozen into ice rather than dead or living. They would not blur, refused to sink in on themselves, rot like the rest of this dead thing, so he did not look.
He could not look.
All that had mattered was the task at hand, the icy water dripping from the cloth in his hands, the blood he would not let dry steadily discolouring it until he had been sure it would be cleaner to let the corpse sit in its own rancid guts.
At the time, there had been no relief; not for himself, tirelessly working to drown the dull ache that had been building within his body, and not for his people, sick, starving and occupied.
He couldn't have imagined what was going on in Brandenburg. There had been no correspondence, only nobles who had fled their own lands, scattered in the winds like dandelion kicked up by excited children.
They had been playthings, the lot of them, for the likes of Sweden and the Empire. These days, Gilbert quietly wondered if Karl had *meant* to kill them.
Well, then, he was sure he had succeeded. Everything had been infested with the stench of death, and stepping outside the sick quarters was no better.
Instead of the putrid smell of decay, he had registered the taste of ash on his tongue, the way it had stuck to his skin and stayed there no matter how much he'd scrubbed himself raw.
All it had accomplished was a merciless, acidic burn in his wounds. He had washed, and washed, and washed, scraped at his body, dug in his nails to get whatever he had pushed into his flesh *out* before it could spread, putrefy his body from the inside, but it hadn't snuffed the embers that had razed through him.
The cadaver had drawn breath, then. As if it didn't know it had died, its chest had risen, ever so slightly.

Y'all I think I stumbled on lost media?? I've never seen this hetalia episode ever, it's like the DND RPG episode??? Someone on TikTok found it somewhere. Normal hetalia episode but I've just never seen this..was Fantasia a thing like Gakugen? Are there more of these?
I haven't watched most of the world series ones bc they weren't dubbed I'll be honest.
This was an extra World Series OVA that came out late in 2013, between the announcement of Beautiful World and its actual airing. It partially adapts Hetalia Fantasia which exists as a Drama CD. Apparently this is the only Hetalia episode that wasn't dubbed (I guess because it came out so late that it wasn't possible to include it in the American release of the last DVD volume of World Series).
I've heard of the episode before, it's kinda cool to see it again! The hetarchive has some very rudimentary translations of the drama CD, which has several other characters—including a Mysterious Knight that is actually Prussia, as is incredibly obvious in the CD but less so from reading the transcripts, which I mention for my Prussia Loving Friend (you know who you are). We know Hima is fond of making AUs, as with the aforementioned Gakuen, and I think Fantasia is one of the cooler ones that's often forgotten.
Hey, guys! I’m Lotus, and it looks like I’ll be taking over the APH Rarepair Secret Santa this year. Yes, that does mean the exchange is back on, but the delay brings about some complications. Namely, everything is behind schedule – the deadline this year will probably be New Years or January 8th. Otherwise, I’m setting up the forms now, so be ready for that. Thank you all, and Happy Holidays!

Good morrow. I am in search of guidance. When I started reading DC it was by haphazardly throwing myself into the deep end with 0 context and trying to figure it out as I went, which turned out "fine" but as one does I kind of ended up accidentally on purpose pigeonholing myself into the BatCorner. I've read plenty of other stuff, but I don't have nearly as comprehensive a grasp on any other corners of the universe, and I'd like to start amending that. So I was just wondering if you have or know of any reading recs/lists for Arrowfam stuff? Or just what a good starting point might be. If it's not a bother. Have a nice day :)
Hi!
Not a bother at all, I can link them! Most of the reading list posts have links that will take you to the readcomicsonline page. These are the ones I could find just now, but the original posters of these recs have more comics recs and you can also check out @/arrowfam-events or @/nonbatdcu for recs.
