Hello! I'm Kaden, my day job is sorting through piles of old documents and figuring out what we're legally allowed to put through the shredder, and I am now apparently writing pikmin fanfic in my spare time!

I'm doing Cringetober but Pikmin themed B) but forgor about it yesterday OOPs. I'll probably have today's prompt tonight. Probably. If not I'll skip it.

Anyways, each prompt will have some sort of Pikmin spin on it. So for Overpowered, I did the Plasm Wraith. Because elements and can fly. And didn't DIE.

hi pikmin nation does anybody actually definitively know what pikmin wraiths are or are we just making it up as we go. this is a genuine question. it comes up so much and I keep acting like I am soooo so knowledgeable on it but I'm NOT !!!!!

To my knowledge... absolutely making it up as we go!

There are 2-3 official wraiths as of the date of this post, August 7 2024:

Waterwraith: gelatinous being, described as some sort of non/semi-corporeal psychic phenomenon, multiple exist

Plasm wraith: gelatinous being, similar but not like the Waterwraith in that it has a core and can mimic/create creatures using its substance instead of just rolling around at the speed of horrible crushing death, only one exists that we are aware of

Crammed wraith: a hey! Pikmin enemy that might just be named that due to localization, as the japanese name is "Land Bug-Eyed Hermit Crab." Lives in a shell, serves more as an obstacle than an actual enemy.

Everything else is fan speculation picking up the ball and running with it, spurred by the "Umibozu" theory; started in P2 with the Waterwraith's appearance; the umibozu is a Japanese youkai that attacks sailors, and the Waterwraith's japanese nickname is the "amebozu," which got people thinking about a more sinister reason behind Olimar crashing in the first game.

Pikmin 1 having it's own amorphous blob hidden boss called the "goolix" probably only fanned the fire on that regard |D

But, uh.... yeah! To the best of my knowledge all that we officially know about wraiths is that they're mysterious humanoid blobs with supernatural abilities, and it's fun to make fan variations :D

Two more collab contributions I made for the pikship server :D Both were pride-themed as they were done for June/Pride Month: the pikmin one was for drawing pikmin characters in Wizard of Oz costumes (as a popular euphemism for the queer community used to be "Friends of Dorothy"), and the Russ one was a more general pride collab.

Both were super fun to do, just like the Olimar one from earlier! It feels really good to get back into drawing stuff again, especially as part of a group project!
