So there’s this one story that has completely ruined the idea of “peaceful hiking in Alaska” for me, and now my brain will not shut up about it.

The setup sounds like every other wilderness horror cliché: a small hiking group, the Alaska Triangle, weird fog, gear, confidence, all that. But then it hits this point where the forest goes dead silent no birds, no wind, just this thick, heavy quiet like the whole place is holding its breath. And honestly, that alone is nightmare fuel.

But the part that really got me?

They start hearing a little girl calling for help in the trees. Faint, scared, repeating the same words. One of them goes to check, and the voice suddenly changes. It starts using his voice. Same tone, same words, same timing. Like something out there was learning them in real time, copying them. And then he just gets yanked into the fog. No scream. No struggle. Just gone.
