“STOP THIS FIRE” OUT TOMORROW • • It’s wild to think that alittle over a year ago, I lost nearly everything in a house fire. A week or 2 later I wrote a song about it and at MIDNIGHT it’ll be on @spotify @itunes etc. • It’s the most literal experience of “beauty from ashes” I’ve lived through. And am honored to get to share it with you all. • • I’m better, stronger, and more aware of what truly matters in this life because of it. • • Please listen and share if you wish. Love you all! “STOP THIS FIRE” OUT NOW #linkinbio PART III • • • ...so after a week of digging through ruble of a lifetime of memories, things became real, real fast. Life is not about this world and the things it can give you. To be honest, I was veering the wrong way before the Fire. And it turned me around real quick. Anyways, I ended up flying my sister to New York for school visits (cause my sweet Mama obviously just became really busy.) After a week in New York, I “moved” to nashville with the same suitcase I left LA with back in December. I landed in Nashville and walked into a co-write with a guy i’d never met. • • He asked me what’s going on in my life and I quickly assessed that he was a genuine, loving a safe guy, so I shared with him what all had JUST happened. I sat down on the piano and played in silence until melodies and lyrics started falling. It felt like we were dusting off artwork that had been there all along. A few hours later, “stop this fire” was born. We tracked 2 or 3 vocal takes, a couple piano takes and that was just about it. • • The vocals you hear are a week after the fire. We never changed a thing. •• Writing this song brought me to a place to be able to receive God’s healing and comfort. My prayer is that it allows you to do the same no matter what you’re facing. Our world is currently a mess, but there is hope. You are not alone
🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊 PART II .... so I got to the airport minutes after seeing those pictures and the poor women at the front desk got my very first moments of panic and tears. I basically broke down and said through a shaky voice “I WAS SUPPOSED TO. NEW YORK. BUT HOUSE. FIRE. LA. I NEED A. TICKET. AND. I JUST...” (I doubt she understood a word but oh well. I was so “that girl”) • • Anyways... I didn’t get a refund AND had to buy a whole new ticket to la. It was delightful. 😑 • • I took a “cab?” (Honestly I don’t think he was an uber or a cab just some random guy, but I was CLEARLY not functioning and got in the car with him. Thank you jesus for protection lol. I’m not this reckless usually, I promise)... from LAX to a restaurant with that same suitcase I had had since December. The restaurant smelled like smoke cause my family’s clothes and hair carried in the smell from the house. • Surreal moments like that are hard to process when there’s no concept to what’s actually going on. My family seemed normal and were laughing and finding joy in the little things. • • The next week was absolute chaos and beautiful unity mixed with moments of laughter and breakdowns. I’ve never experienced such peace, grace, compassion, patience, and love my family gave to one another and how our close friends came around us in prayer and support. • • I truly believe this is what community, family, hardship and celebration was intended to look like from the beginning. • • “all our stuff being gone” was more an annoyance than a devastation. I know that sounds so weird, but honestly, we were just happy to all be alive and together. Stuff is stuff and it’ll all be gone someday anyways. I’m just grateful to learn this lesson so early. I was living in California. Had been visiting nashville for a month (which kept getting extended from an intended week long trip). About to move to nashville. Driving to the airport from nashville to New York to help with my cousins engagement. I got a text from my dad with pictures of ash and fire trucks and a text message that read “all your stuff is gone”
