You sat bolt-upright in bed, gasping as your eyes blew open wide. With one hand raised to your chest you tried to steady your breathing, slowly coming to your senses as you remembered that this was the real world and not the one you had just awoken from.
In a way you had already been used to waking up in a panic from those horrid nightmares you kept having. However, this one was a little different. For one, it kept you awake for the rest of the night, your mind too consumed with the remainder of that dream to rest again. But also, it kept coming back. Night after night you now had the same horrid dream, over and over again.
It was starting to effect your daily life. You became clumsy, which is not ideal working in a café where you had to regularly carry multiple cups and glasses. The sleep you missed out on also found you in more and more unsuitable spaces. During mass or now even waiting in line at the store. It was getting out of hand and your father decided that something needed to be done about it.
At first he forbid you from leaving the house, too worried that you'd just fall over anywhere on the street. However, you still did not manage to sleep any more than before. Each night you entered a vast open space, covered entirely in a thick fog. The very first night you saw a tall, dark structure looming in the distance.
Those past few nights that structure was getting ever closer and you were starting to hear a voice. A deep, mighty voice. It was only that night that you were able to make out some of the things the voice was saying. By now, you could also see a long table between the dark columns. When you awoke that night the only thing you remembered the voice saying was his own name. The Fool.
It went on another few days before your father informed you that he had called some people who could help you. You felt relieved at the idea of finally being free from those wretched dreams. Especially now that you had gotten closer to the table. Now every night you feared that the man sitting at the head of it would see you.
Somewhere deep in your bones you knew that if he saw you it would end badly for you. You knew that the voice and the man always unsettled you greatly in your sleep, and yet, each time you awoke you could no longer recall either.
When the two men finally came to rid you of your nightmares they did not tell you much about what they would do. They claimed to be able to walk inside your dream and yet, they would not explain how they would be able to achieve such a thing. The charming one had only smiled softly and insisted that it was one of their trade secrets.
The smaller one had only seemed nervous, both at the prospect of talking with you and the task in itself. The charming one, he had introduced himself as Leonard, had chuckled and excused his partner, Klein, for being nervous about his first time tagging along.
Somehow those words had calmed your nerves a bit. Not that an unexperienced man was supposed to help, but rather that one could safely be brought along, implying that this task was a simple one to them.
Still, no amount of calming words could rid you of the unease of going back to that place, on purpose no less! There was also something else, something about that man, Klein. He seemed so very familiar to you and yet you couldn't recall from where.
After setting everything up the way they would need it to be Leonard instructed you to lay in bed the same you would do on any regular night. One of the things the had done to prepare was giving you a mild sedative to ensure that you would fall asleep and stay asleep for as long as they needed.
As you laid down you could already feel your eyelids grow heavier with each breath you took. The two men were engaged in some irrelevant conversation with your father when Klein made a remark that you didn't quite catch. The last thing you heard before falling into slumber left your blood running cold.
"I can assure you, despite how he seems, Klein is no Fool."
The kimono designer in the anime, Halka, is always gushing about the "amazing" colouring made by color designer Anna Okamatsu (which is quite cute!).
She asked her coleague to share one of her adjustments so we could see the work ourselves, and here it is!
The dark blue kimono with pomegranates was originally designed with a red background. Halka says it was proposed at the same time as the Cosmos kimono (first seen in 1x13), so it was also in the red hues like autumn. Later when the pomegranate design was put to use, Okamatsu changed it to a dark blue to differentiate it. Halka also praises how it highlights the vivid pattern, "resulting in an exquisite kimono that combines modesty and splendor".

I recently read A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and boy oh boy do I love Dunkin Eggs! XD So here's a scene from The Mystery Knight featuring Egg and Lord Bloodraven - it's not in explicitly the book but it's a scene that would've happened in the background (no doubt we would've seen it if we had an Egg pov loll)
I also went for my inky style this time, with a more stained-glass vibe; I figured it'd be fitting for the story's medieval setting, and I can also play around with the figures and composition without worrying about accurate anatomy hahaa
my commission from the ASOIAF for Palestine campaign. It’s of Princess Daella daughter of Maekar and Duncan the Tall. The artist working on this is @ainzee_the_real on yet, although the amazing fundraising project was worked on by around 25 artists and thought up by (as far i know) @wodania
Despite the relationship not even being confirmed (seems the likeliest explanation for Brienne being descended from both a Targaryen and Duncan the Tall is that Duncan had a child by either Rhae or Daella, but which of the girls it was has not yet been indicated), Duncan and Daella is my one of my favorite relationships in the ASOIAF universe to think of headcanons/possibilities for. What makes the idea so interesting to me is that as opposed to Cersei or Rhaenyra, as far as we know, Daella (or Rhae, but for here on I’ll say Daella as that’s who I headcanon as being the one he had an affair with) was able to conceal that she had a baby a man that wasn’t her husband. Their paternity was never revealed, and the Tarth line at the time of AGOT is no longer Tarth biologically at all, but nobody knows (yes, I’ve considered they still have Tarth blood from Selwyn or Brienne’s mother). This seems like the exact thing that a fan of fairy tales or romances, such as Sansa, would cling to, but the story is absent. ASOIAF and Fire and Blood have a lack of stereotypical Knight and Lady/Princess romances, and that is almost certainly purposeful. Lucamore Strong was a Kingsguard, forbade to marry, and had three families simultaneously who did not know of each other. Jaime rose to the ranks of the Kingsguard as a teenager and was bedding a highborn lady, a Queen in fact, the entire time, but that Queen happened to be his sister. Loras Tyrell is depicted as a steroypical knight on the surface, one that Sansa is quick to swoon over, but it turns out that he is gay and in love with claimant to the Iron Throne Renly Baratheon. Brienne has not formally been named a knight, but her love for Jaime Lannister and overall arc is reminiscent of the knights in the stories, she is kind and honorable, as well as pure of heart. Even the most mentioned romance between a Knight and Princess/Queen, Aemon Targaryen and Naerys Targaryen, is between a brother and sister, in which Naerys possibly does not even return her brother’s feelings and Aemon fails to ever save her from her abusive marriage, but instead stands by and protects her abuser. The most wholesome stories, Bonifer Hasty and Rhaella as well as Garlan and Leonette are either a love never realized for the former, lost in favor of an abusive marriage, or between a knight in name but a Lord in practice and his wife of a similar standing. Duncan the Tall, as far as we’ve been told, does not have the personality flaws of Lucamore, Jaime, or Aemon, is lowborn unlike everyone else on this list, and his relationship with a Princess actually manifested itself in the Tarth line. Despite it not being known to any of the POV characters in the series, this story is one of the most clean cut and potentially wholesome knight-lady love stories in the series. I absolutely cannot wait to hear it, because it seems like it could be a breath of fresh air in any otherwise dark and heavy series.
Forgive me for the tangent, now I’ll get to the depiction. Daella was born in 199 AC, and Duncan in as early as 191 AC. Maekar became King in 221, making Daella 22. Given GRRM’s track record for marrying highborn ladies, particularly Targaryens, off young, my headcanon is that by the time her father became King, she was already married to Lord Tarth. It is unknown when Duncan became a Kingsguard, but we do know that he was in Tarth at some point, as Brienne has seen his shield in her youth, and therefore i hypothesize that he went to Tarth with Daella as either a personal shield hired by Maekar or as a Kingsguard. My personal headcanon is that Daella and Duncan began their relationship before her marriage and she was married to Lord Tarth to conceal this, but that’s pure conjecture. In this depiction, Daella is still at Summerhall and Duncan still a knight without titles or status. I believe his kind and romantic nature is accurately shown in this art, trying to win the favor of a Princess with a mere rose. They know they can never marry, but the courtship continues all the same. I don’t know, i just think it’s sweet ^_^
Anyway, this has been posted before by the campaign, but I thought I’d add my two cents as the person who requested. This group has done an amazing thing, all in the name of a very important cause. The amount of work they’ve put in with no benefit to them is commendable.
More Dunk and Egg fanart, featuring Dunk, Egg, and Aerion Targaryen from The Hedge Knight! I went a little further with the stained-glass style this time, and I'm happy with how it turned out! Especially Aerion's cloak, which is supposed to be fully black if I remember right; I added in the fiery colours just to help it pop XD
Also, the dragons here aren't actually there - it's meant to symbolize the Targaryens fighting (over Dunk hahaa)! The designs are based on the descriptions of their dragon eggs; Aerion's is gold and silver, and veined with red, while Egg's is white and green, all swirly. And the tree in the back is meant to represent Dunk :'''D
