BEASTLY!!!
Speechless
hey everyone,
heard this song. went..oh..my….then this happened. this is exactly the kind of music that i get drawn to immediately on my musical searches. [shout outs to my bff4mofrackinlyfe sonia p. for the track!] i kept listening and listening over and over…and every time that saxophone would come through I would get so lost in the music that i would lose focus on everything else.
i saw clean and classy mixed with a bit of cool and futuristic visuals that were shaped appropriately. my amazingly talented friend @jyshih21 did an amazing job and masterfully created that and more. the important thing that i wanted to convey in this video is that it’s not just a dance video, rather, i wanted the entire video itself to be the art because i felt that it would be the best way to visually represent the intricacies and oddities of the music.
so there you have it…i hope that you enjoyed my video. and thank you so much for watching/reading. your existence gives my craft purpose.
yours truly, anthony lee
p.s. the behind-the-scenes is coming soon. :)
To all who are willing to listen…
First of all, thanks. Second of all, I would love to share a little more about this particular project with you. In November of last year, I asked my friend Pat Cruz if he would be down to collaborate with me and, to my surprise, he was game. I’ve respected and appreciated this guy’s artistry for quite some time now [see “Say Goodbye” video for reference], because it looks simple to do but is actually really hard to look that good doing. Plus, all of the amazing shows that The Company [shout outs!] have put together during and after his tenure as director were added to My Favorites before I even watched them. So the honor really was mine when the challenge was accepted. Then we got to work, vibin’ was on point, flow was correct, movement came naturally, and that pretty much sums up the choreography. But the best part was putting the whole project together and gathering the crew. As most of my followers know, I’ve never shared the [2-dimensional] stage with a lot of these incredibly talented people…Aggie, Sorah, Jeka, Ellen, Megan, Amanda, and Ade…so this project immediately transformed from a choreography concept video into…well, I guess you could call it a “social”. So Pat and I decided to make the concept just that, an actual house party. This, very organically, had just turned into what would be the most fun video project that I would ever work on…and more importantly…would bear fruit from. Because all Shares, RT’s, Re-Blogs, Favorites and Likes aside [and as cheesy as this may sound] acquaintances turned into homies that night. Not necessarily during the rehearsals, or the actual shoot, or when the pizza delivery came because we were all too hungry to keep dancing, or from one drink to another, or during the amazing cypher that went well into the night, but somewhere during that time me and Pat looked at everyone we had brought together and thought, this is what the dance community is all about. Good people = good times. And I’m just glad we caught it all on camera. So to the b*tches out there, please…don’t kill our vibe.
Thanks again for listening and please support my brotha @Pat_Cruz and subscribe to him here: http://www.youtube.com/impatcruz
