Hi everyone! The very first scene of chapter 2 is now live.

This is only the opening scene for the chapter, but I am planning on writing two more full scenes that will allow you to meet one of the Thorne siblings a little earlier than planned and you'll be able to spend time with a certain coworker or neighbor.

Let's say they're already dating, early stage:
Athiel: They wouldn't snipe directly,—they'd find it too uncomfortably sweet to want to snap at MC, but they'd definitely have a hard time talking for a solid minute. Probably would hold out their hand pointedly for another kiss.
L: Would be fangirling internally, "Oh my god you're so sweet, I'm the luckiest person ever, how did I even manage to have you in my life." They're the type to fangirl outwardly too, though their charm tends to win most of the time with the dimple popping and the smirk showing.
T: T will need a long moment to process what just happened before the tips of their ears would flush with an interesting shade of red. They'd smile slightly, turn around, make another coffee, set it down for MC. And if MC asks whether T just wanted another kiss, T would answer 'yes' without hesitation.
Ekissa: Would roll their eyes at first just to tease, though a pleased smirk would be sitting on their lips. They'd step closer to press a kiss against MC's temple soon after and tell them, "That was awfully sweet, but keep going and I might become a sap."
El: Would giggle and have a dumbstruck grin on their face while staring at MC with a soft blush tinting their cheeks. They'd definitely be melting at something so simple yet so sweet.

Vince honestly used to sleep with MC most of the time because he always considered MC like his parent. Being the youngest (well, Kadis is the same age but older by a few minutes) meant he barely knew Adele (their mother), and with Loras either drinking or just the tough love type of man, MC was the only parental figure. Past Vince would sleep like a baby; current Vince would say MC is weird and that he's not a kid anymore but would sleep like a baby anyway.
Very young Jackson would've sung with MC and playfully said he sings better than MC. A little older Jackson and current Jackson would say he doesn't need MC's help and would leave.
Very young Kadis would hum along with MC at first, then fall asleep. A little older and current Kadis could tell MC she can handle herself, that she's strong enough, that she doesn't even want to hear MC sing a lullaby that won't fix the problem. Kadis is always on the defensive, always trying to pick a fight when MC tries to get along, so... that's that.
Wait it has only been a month in the game???? I feel like already 6 months passed or something because it sure feels like things are going. Also yea grief is weird. I didn't grieve until a whole year technically passed because of issues. So don't worry too much about it because I can taste the ashes of grief in this story a little well haha.
I'm sorry for your loss, anon. There are so many ways of grieving, I know someone who bawled their eyes out once before going back to 'normal'. Like, they let themself feel it ust this one time before going 'aight, back to business, gotta get my shit together'. And someone else I know is still crying even if it's been nearly a year.
But anyway! About LAD, been nearly seven months now, haha. I can't blame anyone for thinking it felt shorter, cuz I tend to lose track of time sometimes myself. That's why you'll usually see 'few months', instead of the exact number

First time reading this-and I am just around middle of chapter 1 I think-, name of this tricked me to read it because I tought this was gonna be a fantasy story that we play as a ghost lol and I should have read descriptions and character bios before starting this because prologue hurts. Now here I am moth to flames reading this not even romancing anyone in the story because it feels wrong for me but still can't stop reading to see where this is going. I usually don't enjoy tragedy and drama but your writing is good and I am too curious for my own good.
My question is that, Is there gonna be a time skip ? Feels too soon and raw to even start thinking dating someone in this story otherwise for me. And ROs are so interesting too... If not I just go for a friendship route to see where this story go. And don't take this the wrong way btw this is not critism, I just wanted to know and mentally prepare lol. You even making me a drama/tragedy hater read this kind of story because it's too intriguing.

Time will pass, but in any case, you'll be the one deciding when you're ready to get in a relationship with the RO. There will be moments where you'll be able to pick that choice (entering a relationship etc), but obviously, it won't be there every two scenes.
You can actually still be at the crushing stage at the end of LAD, though what happens after will be up to you
I really want to let y'all decide the pace of the romance. The kiss, the hugs, the talk, the way of behaving around the RO, and little things like that. Obviously, I can't offer everything, but I'll do my best to leave those decisions to y'all as much as I can when it comes to romance.
It reminds me of some people who were a bit worried about it since you lock your romance early in the game, but I wanted to do it early so you can have more moments with your RO, with little scenes that make things more natural—

You know I replayed the game again after my mother's half sisters hid the fact my grandmother died from her our family (they never liked the fact we took of my grandma the most) and seeing how Mc's situation was so similar but so different. I wouldn't put it past El's mother to actually hide their death.
It was comforting to read and made me feel less alone in a way. The way you described and wrote grief was so accurate to how I first reacted, I felt so seen when Mc was experiencing not being able to go the funeral, not knowing anything, the hopelessness and loss. You made El's mother whose both narcissistic and selfish act exactly how that type of person would in that situation, someone who would grief over their loved but still deny them the access to those who've truly cared for them over their own selfishness and twist views of them.
Sorry for little vent and rant but your if has truly brought me a bit of peace, thank you.

That's such a heartwarming feeling to know I succeeded in making you feel seen. That's ultimately the plan, but it's always a pleasant surprise when I manage to touch people's hearts through my writing.
It's such a common thing for people who are grieving and handling everything to refuse access to certain people because they don't like them. At least from where I live, it's a familiar thing—can't speak for everyone, since it's different everywhere and for everyone.
