“It’s spring, you’re young, you’re lovely, you have a right to be happy. Come back into the world.”
— Shirley Jackson, We Have Always Lived in the Castle

After careful consideration and going over multiple options I think the best choice is stay warm and cozy in bed forever.
There’s actually a few things here that majorly dropped childhood mortality. In no particular order these include…
Vaccines (yay!)
Pasteurization
Implementing and enforcing food quality and sanitation standards. Did you know White Castle was called as such because their gimmic was that they continually cleaned and bleached their stores inside and out to prevent food poisoning.
The invention of antibiotics! The first sulfa drugs dropped in the 1930s-40s
Widespread access and distribution of enriched food products! Enriched flour did a lot to prevent malnutrition, and it’s how Wonderbread got its name!
We got a hell of a lot better with medical care for sick and premature infants. The first incubators for premature babies were actually used as something of a sideshow attraction at Coney Island! It was the only way the doctor who invented them could get funding to keep them running because no one thought it would work. It showed a lot of people that really premature babies could survive with the right treatment and eventually was adopted by hospitals.
The green revolution in agriculture that prevented around a billion people from starving to death
More recently it’s been widespread access to mosquito nets and medication to poorer and rural areas

it’s awesome how we have unlimited chances to become a better version of ourselves

This is Money Snake. She only appears every 312 years.
If you reblog her picture within the next twenty-five seconds you will have good luck and fortune for the rest of your life.
I reblogged her late last year and my 2024 has been very satisfying work-wise and (secure enough to not stress out) money-wise so far. Money Snake is wise and good.

You’re not depressed. You just need $250,000 in your bank account.

Me to myself
I feel that a set should be like a happy family. Almost like Thanksgiving every day. Happily going down the road together, getting along and congratulating people all the time of their good work. And, you know, getting a really great feeling. A safe feeling too. For the actors, so they can - like I say - let go and go to a new character with as little fear as possible, and really get in there, deep. People who run a set on fear, or a business on fear, I say are really stupid. If you run your business on fear, you’re going to stress the people. You’re gonna cause all kinds of conflicts, and jealousy, and backstabbing to get ahead in the business. When the father or mother come home from work, they’re gonna be coming home tired and stressed. And the little kids can feel this, and there can be arguments in the home, based on this stress, and anxieties, and tension. And the little kids are just wondering, what is this kind of world?

It’s really funny how the one guy who openly declared that having just one soulmate was a dumb system was the one to have his happily ever after with his soulmate
Just Jackson Avery things, I suppose 😬
