The blonde nodded as she stepped out of the embrace. “Yes!” she grinned, sidestepping and spinning around in a lazy dance, “now ice cream. I’ve been good and haven’t gone to our place yet. Serious! It hasn’t been a complete cleanse but store bought isn’t the same.” She scrunched her nose at Poppy. Her eyes caught the remainder of the luggage. She reached out to grab more and pouted at Poppy. “Let me carry more. You’ve had a long trip, Flower.”

"Oh don’t be silly. You could have gone!” She shook her head lightly. “I’m glad I got here when I did then... You might have ended up with withdrawals.” She laughed and nudged Nora lightly. “I’m not going to fight you on that. And this is packing light...” She laughed and handed off one of the smaller bags to Nora. “One of the lucky things... getting through security was easy. They know me fairly well. We flew a lot. So it made it easier. Especially with all this luggage.” She didn’t have a TON but she had enough to be annoying when traveling. She was uprooting her entire life though. It was reasonable she’d had a fair bit with her. She looked around the small portion of Woodridge they could see. “It hasn’t changed much... has it?”

“I’ve never really been one to believe in ghosts, but after what happened last night, my view has been changed.” Haven began, turning to the person that walked by. “I was in bed, scrolling through my phone with the bedside lamp turned on, and out of nowhere, the book I had laying on the bedside table opened, and the pages kept turning like wind was turning them over, but I checked all the doors and windows and there was no draught at all.” She told them with a sigh. “So long story short, I live in a haunted house.”

"You know... It’s rumored that half of Woodridge is built on an old Native American burial ground. Most of the houses have rumors to be haunted... At least, that was what I was told when I was kid and visiting here. They might have just been trying to scare me.” Poppy laughed lightly. She wasn’t sure, she was convinced half of Maine had rumors to be built on Native American burial grounds. So it wouldn’t surprise her if there was one in Woodridge as well.

“There are plenty of songs in the world that aren’t about love. Anything classical is a great start, even if love was the muse, they don’t sing about it” perhaps that was very cynical, but love was just not something he could believe in. He had barely even liked his wife, let alone loved her.

"That’s true, but I meant more when in public spaces... unfortunately classical music isn’t very popular now a days. Even as beautiful as it is.” She sighed lightly. She’d been in love, some might argue still was. The pain was of losing a love, not a disbelief in it for her. “Sometimes conversation is more tolerable than the music if one can manage to hold one for long enough.”

Nora’s nose scrunched as she giggled at Poppy’s delight. She grabbed one of the luggage bags and turned to walk towards the street. As she took her first step, she halted and presented the bouquet of flowers to Poppy. “I totally forgot!” Her thought was interrupted and she drew out her lower lip in a small pout. “Aww. AWWW! That makes my cold little heart so happy!” she teased with a giggle. “I can’t wait to see it! But yeah! These are for you, my dear.” Nora, forever a goof with her closest friend, got down on one knee and squinted at the afternoon sun as she shoved the flowers at Poppy. They weren’t anything special but the contrast of colors and odd beauty of the bunch reminded her of Poppy’s love for odd beauties. She got back up to her feet with a grin.

Poppy grinned as they started to walk off with Nora towards Ice Cream. Suddenly Nora exclaimed and was shoving flowers at her. This caused Poppy to start laughing, even more so when Nora got down on her knee in front of her. She took the flowers and hugged Nora quickly, but tightly once again. “Thank you~” She chimed happily and stuck her nose right into the flowers. Thankful allergies never really took hold of her. “Now, Ice Cream?” She tilted her head, she could almost still remember the familiar pathways to the ice cream shop.

Nora’s lips pressed into a thin line when Poppy said she didn’t blame the psychotic woman that attacked her. If anyone should have been beaten to the point they needed medical attention, it was the cheating husband/client. It wasn’t anyone’s fault but his. The entire situation made Nora’s blood boil just thinking about it. Why do women always turn and fight one another when it’s a man that drove them to the point of destruction or heart break? Her blue green eyes closed as she took a shaky breath. She cleared her throat softly as she opened her eyes to focus on the strong woman before her but she couldn’t think of anything to say in response to Poppy’s bravery or ability to let go. “Well I guess we should start things off the right way and get some ice cream, right? Tradition after all.” A soft smile returned to Nora’s face as her hand gently ran through Poppy’s hair again. “What shampoo are you using now? It’s so soft and smells really good,” she commented in an attempt to lighten their moods.

There was a small part of Poppy that knew, despite the man being the problem, that the blame fell to the woman. You want to blame the woman who seduced your husband, you don’t want to blame the man you made your vows too. Somewhere deep down in her heart though, Poppy knew she didn’t want the woman to turn her attacks on Poppy’s former lover. The man had a special place in her heart. “Yes! Please! Nothing like ice cream in Woodridge on the first official day of summer.” Because as children, summer didn’t start until they hit Woodridge. She laughed lightly. “It’s called Aveda actually, it’s not cheap so it better smell good and make my hair feel like a goddess’!” She grinned widely, letting the scent of the sea air in Woodridge bring her back to carefree days as children. The sea breeze picking up a few strands of hair. “I got you some for your hair, different kind because you have different hair but I thought you’d like it. It’s cruelty free too.”

“Think I’d prefer the elevator music” least that way he didn’t have to listen to lies about love. That was issue. Well that and they always sounded happier than anyone had a right to me, or indeed probably had ever historically been. “Yeah well, I am not social” it normally led to questions he had no intentions of answering. “Healthy”.

"To each their own.” Poppy stated rather simply. This man was... well difficult to say the least. She wasn’t in the mood for love songs currently but she liked them in general. Then again, she was the type of girl who hoped for someone to sweep her off her feet in a grand romantic gesture someday. “Well I’m not sure what else you have for choices, then. Suppose you’ll have to suffer through one or the other, as we must all.”

Kira wouldn’t be surprised if the woman was as unimpressed as she looked. “Of course you will.” Kira winked. “You’re a woman, strong and beautiful. We always find our way.” Kira was simply repeating words from her mother.

Poppy was surprised by the woman’s slight change of attitude. “You’re right, we do. Are you searching as well? It’s a bit harder in a smaller town than the city... but I’ve gotten a few suggestions.”

Jessica’s attention adverted upwards from her drink. After a long day in the sun, she’d caught herself in a daze as she swirled the straw around in her smoothie. “Last I heard, Folklore is looking for a few cashiers. It’s minimum wage, but it’s something,” she suggested as her shoulders rolled back. “I could always get you in as a lunch lady at the school, but I figure that’s more of a last resort type thing.”

When the other woman spoke Poppy turned her eyes over to her. A much more calm look about her than a moment ago. If only because she realized she actually did have someone’s attention. “Folklore? What’s that? I’m looking for anything really... I’ll do freelance photography work on the side if I need more...” She nodded. “That doesn’t sound awful, but I’m not sure I’d be great with kids.” Admittedly she was afraid her past would bite her if she got involved with children or anything too public. Not that her site was up, nor was there any trace of her old life- they were careful. She just didn’t want to risk it with anything that could look too far back.

“Bummer.” Though her words didn’t sound sincere, the expression she wore was, a sympathetic look on her own face as she watched Poppy sit, “Where are you looking? How much do you need to make?”

"I’d be happy making anything, I’d rather work around a paycheck than search for something that’s not possible... I’m looking for photography work ideally... but I’ll take anything honestly.”

"...” She gave the girl a rather unimpressed looking. “I’m sure I’ll find something though, It’s just the start of my search.” She smiled rather determinedly. The comment not disheartening her, in fact, if anything it would make her more determined to find something.

“Job hunting is probably the worse thing in the world unless you get extremely lucky with it.” He agreed, nodding his head as he gave her a sympathetic smile. “What are you thinking about doing? Or you freelancing until you figure it out?” Benjamin asked, raising a brow as he leaned up against the wall. “I’d suggest acting or something to do with music, but I’ve been doing both for a long time and honestly, they’re hell on Earth so.” He told her with a light chuckle. “I will say that as long as you’re happy doing whatever you find, it’s a good job.. and those aren’t too easy to find anymore. But hey, any job is better than nothing, right? Or so I’ve been told.”

"So far, not extremely lucky.” She admitted with a little disheartened shrug. “Photography... I’m just not entirely sure how to go about it here. I’d be content with any job for the time being. I’ve been told I’m good with people so I’m versatile.” Poppy didn’t mind the idea of a job like Nora’s, a barista. She also didn’t mind the idea of a lot of other jobs. “I’ve considered both actually, though acting seemed more appropriate... I think if I’d wanted that too badly I should have stayed in New York though. Seems like a rough start here...” She paused a moment. “I like it better here though, might be harder to find freelance photography- what I did back in New York, but I think it’ll be worth it... I have a savings, I might be frustrated but I’m not giving up.”

Hearing Poppy almost whisper that she missed her was enough to start the wells of tears in Nora’s eyes. Her mind grazed over thoughts of the hell week her friend went through. She wasn’t a fan of hospitals to begin with, adding the fact Poppy was there alone after the wife’s attack. Her arms around Poppy tightened as she imagined finding the woman and bashing her face into a cement wall a couple of times. Tears rolled down her cheeks and she started to sniffle. “I’m never fucking leaving you again. Where you go, I go.” A hand close to Poppy’s hair smoothed over some of the soft curls before she pulled away enough to look at her. Sniffling again, she wiped at her own tears and weakly chuckled at herself, “are you okay?” Nora rolled her eyes, “I mean, like… better? Are you better now? Because, I swear, I will find this bitch and skin her like Mimi skins a trout.”

Poppy hushed Nora quietly, not out of annoyance or anything but she hated feeling like she’d hurt her best friend. She didn’t like seeing Nora cry, especially knowing she was partially the reason. “Nora...” She said softly with a gentle smile. When Nora finally pulled back enough to look at her Poppy nodded gently. “I’m fine, I’ll be okay. I don’t blame her... Do you?” She spoke softly, brown eyes sad but honest. “I don’t like her either, but I don’t blame her. Not with what happened. I would have been pissed too...” She didn’t want to give details out in the open, but if she’d come home to find the man she’d married with another woman she wasn’t sure she’d keep her cool either. She might not try to... kill them or whatever the woman was aiming for. But she wouldn’t have kept her cool by any means. “I’m fine, I’m here. It doesn’t matter anymore. It’s the past. Now does.”

“Yeah well, go into any shop or anything like that and you hear it. They just don’t make it loud” which was a relief, but it was loud enough that it annoyed him. Then again most things were annoying him at the moment it seemed. “Yeah because when there’s love songs and romance films everywhere, ignoring it is super easy”.

"That’s true, it’s that or elevator music...” She shrugged a bit. She didn’t seem to have quite the same aversion to love songs as this man. Even if her heart broke a little with each one she heard. “Well talking about something else might help. Keep your mind off of it...?” She suggested. “Maybe I just have a supernatural ability to ignore things I don’t like.”

"Perhaps. But when you’ve got four siblings fighting just sucks. Kind of puts you off it of it.”

“Yeah, really not a fan” mostly because he didn’t really believe in it. All it seemed to do was cause people pain, and why believe in something like that? “Who does feel like listening to it all of the time? Can’t listen to your own music when the noise is coming out of a radio though. Less you request music before coming in here every single time”.

“That’s true... I mean more in the car, at home, what have you. I rarely bother with the radio.” She sighed a little, actually lately she hadn’t really even bothered listening to music at all. “Maybe just try to keep your mind off it if it’s really not enjoyable...” She wanted to ask why it seemed to bother him but at the same time she wasn’t in her old line of work. She didn’t want to try to slip into making someone forget their troubles by slipping out of their clothing.
