I'm going to be at home for a bit longer than expected...
[AU] I've got ten pairs of shoes...
But God only made seven days….
There are definitely ten days, duh. Just like there are 15 months in a year.
[AU] I've got ten pairs of shoes...
One for every day of the week.
The Seventh Snow of Winter || Limes
Lacing his fingers through Lily’s making sure that they were evenly spaced and comfortable, James squeezes her hand gently. He was genuinely touched by all her concern, particularly given their less than amicable past, and a part of him knew that he could probably never repay her for how patient she was being. And maybe, that was a part of why he wasn’t desperate to shout the shift in their relationship from the rooftops. Ultimately he wanted to be her friend, and he knew that they had already passed that barrier somewhere around the first kiss stage, but even then, he wanted something more concrete, that he couldn’t see any relationship lasting very long if they didn’t manage to sort out all the awkwardness and unanswered questions first. Taking a moment to mock-ponder her words, James smiles, “Alright. We’ll stick with your regular old Transfiguration-hating, sweet-tempered self, and not the screeching she-demon of the ‘oops I pissed you off’ days.” he says, glad that they were at the stage where their fights could be considered nothing more than a joke, at least until they would have to have the inevitable conversation about certain ex-friends of hers. Pulling her closer to his side, James hugs the girl in front of him before tugging her along slowly beside him, the chill of the air getting to him enough that moving was the best option. “I might go have a nap or something when you and I finish here. I just wanted to see you first. I missed you.” he admits, cheeks flushing slightly as he swings their hands between them. “I’ll let you know. Promise.” he says, “But all that aside, we should do something while we’re out here. Something fun, and insane, and just…enough so we can forget all this, just for a little while.”
Lily was honestly concerned about James. She had been since he had disappeared without any sort of explanation. When she learned about his Dad, and now Marlene's brother, she knew she'd have to keep a close eye on the both of them. She hadn't ever exactly felt the way they seemed to be feeling, but she could be sympathetic. Help them with whatever they needed. She couldn't lie, though, having James there with her made her feel a bit better. Relaxed, maybe. It was odd to her how comfortable she was becoming with him. Peering at James from the corner of her eye, she smiled at his words. "That's what I thought. Just don't make me mad, James, and we'll be alright. Although, I quite like you now, so maybe it won't be as bad. You never know, though. I have quite the temper, don't I?" The innocence radiating off of Lily was highly amusing to her. James was a changed man, and honestly, she didn't see herself ever pulling the fits that she used to with him. A small blush lighting up her cheeks, Lily smiled, and looked down at her feet for a few seconds. "I missed you, too, love," she admitted quietly. Nodding at the words, she looked up at James when he mentioned doing something fun. Lily never really let loose enough to do something insane, so she had no idea what to do. "What do you have in mind, love?"
Hello.
Afternoon! How are you?
The Seventh Snow of Winter || Limes
Mentally noting to start sitting closer to Lily at breakfast or lunch, James smiles happily in the direction of passing students, musing that they might have to start gradually acknowledging their friendship to the public, before they dumped the new development on anyone else. Their fights had always been loud enough that the majority of the school knew about them, and he had a sinking feeling that announcing they were dating - whenever that was to happen, and how it sent a sudden thrill through him - would cause the unnecessary drama they were trying to avoid. Shaking away the thought, he turns his head to the side once more, smiling happily in Lily’s direction. Blinking slowly, he nods, “Thanks, love. I guess I just need you to be your regular old self. S’much normality as possible is always a good thing.” he says finally. With everything else suddenly all up in the air, there was nothing he wanted more than stability. Glancing down at her as her hand slithers into his, James squeezes it gently, reveling in how well it fits. Letting his eyes meet hers, he laughs quietly, leaning forward to kiss her forehead, “You’re cute when you’re worried.” he says, before allowing his facial expression to relax, “Marley’s been staying with me the last week or so, I end up spending half the night making sure that she’s sleeping. I’m just…I’m getting there.”
Lily decided that it'd probably be best if they introduced their friendship to the public before anything else. People still looked at them weirdly, even if they were only walking the halls together. Their fights had put quite an image on the both of them. Mostly one of her hating James' guts, and there being no possible chance of them ever being together. If she actually thought about it, she was quite sure that the label could have been quoted in one of her many rants about James Potter. "Alright, love. I guess I can do that. Except, I don't think you want me to be my old, old self. Unless you enjoyed the hexing, and yelling," Lily teased quietly, a small smile upon her lips as she tried to lighten the mood slightly. Hogwarts had been full of sadness lately. It sort of came with the winter, she supposed. James did weird things to her heart, and brain at the same time. It didn't let them agree with each other. Her heart acted much faster than her brain when he was around. One of the reasons she had kissed him in the library, and danced with him at the dance. The redhead closed her eyes when James' lips brushed across her forehead, trying not to focus on how much she enjoyed the feeling it gave her. She couldn't help but be worried about the dark haired boy, especially when he looked like he did. Like he hadn't slept in days. "I can't help but worry about you, James. You really need to sleep, love," she murmured as she stood on her tiptoes slightly to lightly brush her lips across his cheek that her hand didn't rest upon. Sighing, she pulled away slightly, and nodded, deciding not to push the matter. "Alright, love. Just let me know if you need something?"
Well, if you ever need someone to help you sneak off then you can ask me. Though Prongs is awfully good at sneaking about, so you should be fine on your own. You had to expect it, didn’t you? Especially after how violently you used to say you’d never go near him.
I'll keep that in mind. Although, you are right. So, I think we'll be good, thanks. I did expect it. I swore a lot of things, didn't I? I guess I deserve a few 'I told you so's.' That's the only time I'll say it. So, don't let it get to your head.
That’d be a tragedy within itself if that ever occurred, Lily, so let’s do our best to avoid that. I don’t have the time to mess up my hair every day like Prongs does, anyway.
That's an infuriating habit and I'd have to hex you too, if you started doing so. Even if James' hair looks incredible half of the time. Damn him. Anyways, let's get to work, shall we?
Oh, is there? Haven’t paid that much attention to hair care charms. Care to teach it to me, Lily? You are the best at Charms, after all, and I’d really prefer to avoid setting my hair on fire.
I guess I could do that, yeah. Heaven forbid if your hair looked as disheveled as James' does half of the time.
This winter weather is hell on my hair.
I'm pretty sure there's a charm for that, Remus.
I must say, you’ve done a great job being subtle thus far. I had no idea and I live with James. How long has it been going on for, you sneaky pair? I always knew he’d win you over in the end. Perseverance pays off!
Well, thank you, I suppose. It's only been a month, maybe. He was away for a week, or so, with his parents. So, we haven't really had that much time together. Yeah, yeah. I knew I'd get that at some point.
Exactly, we could use some of Doe and Marlene’s diabolical ideas. I’m sure they’ve got one or two, and at the very least we could use Doe’s Quidditch bat to round up the cake lovers. Normally I’d press you for details, but I think for once in my life I’m just going to mind my own business. I’m glad you’re happy though. I don’t know, it’s stuff with Doc… I sort of really fucked things up and I’m not sure how to fix them. At least I don’t know how to without shoving my face with pie and being a goof with you lot. Or just not being such a fuck up when it comes to relationships. And here I thought I was a guru. Can’t even advise my own…
Sounds good to me. Oh, really? There really must be something going on, then, Mare. Gosh. Oh no! Really? I dunno. I would ask, but I have a feeling you don't really want to talk about it. I hope you figure things out, love.
I am positive. Do you not think that would something I’d remember. Your best mate telling you he’d finally kissed the bird he liked after what feels like ten billion years is surely something someone would remember. I can understand not wanting people to talk, but you realise where we are? This’ll only stay a secret for so long, whether you want it to or not. What do you think you are?
Alright, alright. It doesn't matter, anyways. I know where we are, which is why subtlety has been key. We'll let people know when we're ready, unless it comes out before then... We'll get through it, though. I think we're together. Yeah.
Alright, I’ll be serious. For about five minutes only though, that’s all I can offer.
You kissed James? This is brand new information. I am shocked. How could he not tell me? But that aside, that’s great Lily. You happy?
Brand new information? Really? Are you sure that James hasn't already told you? Tell me the truth. I am happy. Very happy. We're just trying to keep it on the down low for a while. We don't need people talking. Besides, I'm not exactly sure what we are.
We ought to take a poll and lock all of them up. And perhaps we could fudge the results and put all of the people we aren’t particularly fond of in there as well… make them eat cake! I know, I just wish there were more. I think we could all use a bit of cheering up. Except perhaps you. You look happy.
We should most definitely do that. I like that idea. We'll talk about it at the girl's night, get some ideas, maybe. I think so, too. Oh? Well, I am happy. Really happy, lately. How are you, though, love? What's going on that you need cheering up?
