He wrote for *Teen Vogue* about how captioning systems fail deaf people.
It’s sad I still have not watched Black Panther.

WHAT
LET 👏 THE DEAF 👏👏 WATCH 👏👏👏 BLACK PANTHER 👏👏👏👏
I hate the fucking title for this article because it pits minorities against each other. If you actually read the thing, it has SWEET FUCK ALL to do with the fact that the film this man was trying to watch was Black Panther. It’s the captioning system that the movie theatres use that are failing the Deaf community. I REPEAT, IT IS NOT BLACK PANTHER THAT IS THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THE TOTAL LACK OF SUPPORTS FOR DEAF PEOPLE TO WATCH *ANY* FILMS WITH PROPER CAPTIONS. DON’T: let this article be the reason you don’t see Black Panther. DO: help the Deaf community by making captions socially acceptable. The problem is the system. Don’t blame the film.
SHE’S PROSPERING!!!!
this story is so inspiring. 5 years ago she thought she was gonna lose her life due to a patriarchal society that would rather have her dead than acheive an education. the world needs more people like Malala.
*Reminding yourself to break eye contact every few seconds to avoid making them self-conscious about the fact that you’re looking at them closely only because that’s your normal and you need to understand them and it has nothing to do with the actual layout of their face….unless you’re talking to someone you like and it does. In that case, you’re just kind of screwed. Especially if you’re also a boy that likes boys and need to make it not obvious.*

STORY OF MY LIFE
HOH Problem #2;
When the cop that pulls you over thinks you’re drunk, because you keep answering the questions you THOUGHT he asked.
Replace cop with husband and that is me XD Even WITH my hearing aid in, I still miss a fews words or phrases.
Florida Gothic: Rain Edition
you wake up and the sky is black. you check the time. it’ s 11 a.m.
the rains come. they come every day. they never seem to leave really. your pool is overflowing. the inflatable alligator toy stares at you with its vinyl eye-slits as it washes away towards the lake. you shake off the feeling that you’re next.
frogs find refuge under your windowsills and the eaves of your roof. hundreds of them wake you in the night with their croaking. you sit up and they all stop immediately. it’s pitch black outside and inside your room and you know they shouldn’t be able to see you. you lay back down. they resume.
it’s been raining for the past two weeks. or maybe three. you find yourself unable to remember if it ever didn’t rain this summer. you can’t remember much of anything really. you do remember how rain tasted when you were a kid, and you know that it didn’t taste like this.
there’s no reason to leave your house so you don’t. you wander the halls in the dark (the power went out again) and make sure you don’t look directly into That One Room.
eventually it rains so much that you start to wonder if the weather is affecting your mood or if your mood is affecting the weather.
you’re never more than 60 miles from the beach but that number is quickly shrinking. with all the rain even the mangroves have nothing to hold onto. florida is washing away but the other states quietly murmur that it’s for the best.

My dog Chica had a nightmare last night. She doesn’t have them very often but when she does she’ll let out this adorable little howl that startles herself awake. She was a little shaken up about it but after a few snuggles in the hooman bed (usually off limits for doggos) she was happy as can be. After a while she hopped down to her own bed and drifted off into a peaceful pupper snooze. And I thought that was the end of it.
But I had a nightmare too. Now that’s not entirely uncommon, I have them fairly often and they’re something that I’ve gotten used to. But this one was a bad one.
The bad ones are the ones that I don’t wake up from. They’re the ones where my friends or loved ones are hurt in front of me and the only thing I can do is watch and cry and scream in the mad hope that it’s all just some terrible dream. Nothing ever happens to me in these dreams so I’m trapped within until I wake up of my own accord. But tonight was different.
Tonight, I felt something lick my hand and woke up in a cold sweat. There on the side of my bed was Chica, licking my hand and looking up at me with concern. Now I’m not sure how much a dog understands about nightmares and dreams and such, but she’s never woken me up from a nightmare before. I’d like to think that some part of her recognized what I was going through and she just wanted to wake me up to protect me from the scary monsters. I have never been more grateful to have Chica by my side than in that moment.
So I let her hop up on the hooman bed (twice in one night, oh boy!) and after a few snuggles I was happy as can be.
Too precious

I’m holding on Why is everything so heavy? Holding on To so much more than I can carry I keep dragging around what’s bringing me down If I just let go, I’d be set free Holding on Why is everything so heavy?

you give me a bowl of candies and tell me that 80% are m&ms and 20% are skittles. I take one and it eat it. skittle. I grab a handful and eat them all at once. all skittles. I grab another handful and eat them one at a time. all skittles. you take 3 out and hand them to me, assuring me that they must be m&ms. they’re all skittles.
at this point, I’m likely to start believing that you have lied to me. it seems like the statistics must be the other way around, or maybe there are no m&ms at all.
at this point, I start expecting skittles. and I get them, every time.
I finally taste chocolate and spit it out. I wasn’t expecting it anymore and I’m not sure if I can even believe my own mouth.
this is why victims of repeated traumas don’t know how to react to good people.
