Cool, just call me a pull out couch. I’m cool with that ;)
There have been a couple people saying they're getting our couch comic made into a tattoo. If you did, send pictures! ❤ it would be amazing to see and reblog them!
Happy Monday, FYBG followers!

Hi, what a great blog this is. I have a question: I would say I am gay. I like men, they are hot, and so on. But: I also like some - very few - women under certain circumstances. I need an emotional bond, and then I can find them attractive. The attraction is just very different. I'd say: that's bisexual. But somehow, calling myself bisexual feels incredibly wrong. What could be a reason? Because saying "gay but like women" is just bi-erasure, which i dont want. Homoflexible sounds ok, but idk..
What you describe certainly does sound like you could call yourself bisexual and maybe internalised biphobia is holding you back because you might think you’re “not bi enough” due to your preference for men. Some people have a strong preference for one gender but as long as they are still also somehow attracted to more than that one gender they can call themselves bisexual. “Homoflexible” of course is also a way to identify and if you like that then why not use it? If you want to express that you prefer men but might make the occassional exception for a woman, then “homoflexible” is quite a good word for that.
You could also say “bisexual with a preference for men” or just “bisexual” and let others think what they want. It’s not like you owe anyone a detailed explanation and break-down of your sexuality. Or you can choose to keep identifying as gay if that feels better. And then there’s the option to change your label based on your mood of the day or context. Sometimes you might feel more “gay” than “bi” or in some situations “bisexual” might be easier to explain than “homoflexible” (which is a label not many have heard of yet).
Though I think it’s worth to examine whether you have some internalised biphobia that’s keeping you from using the bi-label, I also think you shouldn’t feel bad for prefering other labels. Sometimes even if a label would by definition be “the right one” for someone it just doesn’t click with them and that’s okay. Like… I could call myself pansexual but I don’t because that label just doesn’t do it for me and bisexual fits just as well in my case. Bisexual erasure is a structural form of oppression that happens in the media or from organisations and institutions who repeatedly ignore the existence of bisexual people due to monosexism/biphobia. But it’s not something you as an individual have to apply to yourself and feel bad about. You can label your sexuality whichever way you feel comfortable with.
But in case you do realise it’s internalised biphobia that’s holding you back and you would like to get comfortable with the bi-label then here’s some further advice about that.

“biological sex is a social construct” doesn’t mean “chromosomes, anatomy, hormones, and genitalia don’t exist”. it means “these exist, but assigning roles, labels, and expectations to certain combinations of these characteristics is a social construct, and an unnecessary and pointless (actually harmful) one at that”.
People who are pansexual are:
attracted to persons regardless of their gender
and/or attracted to all genders
people with a really pretty PRIDE flag
we are not:
special bisexual snowflakes
calling bi people transphobic
confused
Also bisexuality is an awesome and valid identity and you can pry my bi/pan solidarity from my cold dead hands
People who are bisexual are:
Attracted to two or more genders
Can be attracted to all genders but prefers to use bisexual as a term/label
People with a really cool pride flag
We are NOT:
Transphobic
Disregarding of nonbinary genders
Confused
Shout-out to my pan siblings btw! Y'all are great! Anyone who disagrees can pry bi/pan solidarity from my cold, dead fingers
Woo! Yes!
Bi/Pan solidarity, motherfuckers! 💖💜💛💙
This cleared so much up for me. thank you for this post 💛💛💛
