kaz: people always ask me how i manage the crows.
kaz: the thing is, i don’t. i have no control over them whatsoever. this morning, nina called my name and when i went to see what was going on, wylan shot me in the throat with a nerf gun.

I just got one more thing to say:
*Throws herself off a window*
Kaz is hilarious because he is so consistent with alternating between:
“….Inej is so pretty and brave and talented. She’s so smart. Wow.”
And
“What is HAPPENING?? I am behaving ILLOGICALLY. This is NOT how Dirtyhands operates. What could be the reason for this? Kaz Rietveld is DEAD. There should not be an OUNCE of hesitance in me. For I am a creature of pure, hard LOGIC and STRATEGY.”
Right back to
“Inej laughed and now my heart is doing flips. Her hair is so long and silky. Her eyes burn my soul.”
And then a return of
“This makes no sense. Why am I forsaking the greed and vengeance by which I live my life by? What could possibly be happening-?”
Like. Kaz….the wind blew her hair and your mind went to magic. In a world where Grisha exist, you decide pretty hair blowing in the wind is the most magical thing out there. I just cannot deal with you, sir. I said it once and I’ll say it again. Nobody crushes as hard Kaz freaking Brekker.

HEY GUYS 👹
the first chapter of this is gonna get posted on ao3 really soon! it’s been a while since i posted this but if anyone is still interested, it’s coming i promise :)
the way I can no longer sit by and pretend to like Freddy carter as Kaz Brekker…I’m so sorry😔
ok i actually have been feeling similarly and i was thinking about why this is. because i’ve been feeling the same way about the pjo casting even though i have no evidence to prove that they’re not gonna be fantastic, and i wanted to unpack this feeling for anyone else who might be experiencing it.
basically what i think it is … you just can’t compare the book series to its corresponding television show or video game, or any other spinoff media that comes about. and i don’t think it matters how closely that media decides to follow the source material because at the end of the day, a book is a very different form of art than a television show is — and you also consume them in two very different ways.
an example i use a lot is the Harry Potter books versus the movies. because objectively i think the movies are great, and there isn’t much that is specifically wrong with them. but still, when comparing them to the books, they just can’t stand up. and this isn’t because the movies are bad or the did something wrong, i just think you can’t compare them because they’re two different forms of art.
when you read a book, the world is basically your oyster. even though it’s written for a mass audience, a book is still incredibly personalized thing because the whole world is created through words instead of pictures. you imagine the characters in your head, as well as how the world looks and how they speak and all the other small little details. and there’s fan art and stuff, but everyone is going to have their own concept of what the world and characters look like, but it WORKS because like i said before, there is no opinion that is right or wrong because the experience is different for everyone.
which brings me to my point, because in a television show or a movie, much less is given to the imagination, and therefore there is much less room for that personalization that books have.
and the reason, in my opinion, that it’s difficult for book fans to accept a spin-off show or movie and it’s casting is that books just draw a different type of crowd than video media. it’s just two different groups of people who looks for different things in the type of media they consume. book lovers crave that personal touch that writing gives them to customize their world, whereas cinema fans accept the hard facts that come with visual media and look for personal touches in other parts of that media.
and yes, there’s definitely some overlap between the groups, and some fans are gonna get lucky and maybe the casting is spot on for them. but i think the majority of book fans will never be able to fully accept a spin-off of their favorite work because it takes away some of the mystery and creativity that drew them to that work in the first place.
anyways, thank you for reading if you made it this far and also please let me know if you agree or you think i’m completely off base.

Nina: Cool I guess
Tarot Reader: Why is every card death, what the fuck, I don't even have that many death cards
Nina: Figures
i saw a post somewhere about what a kaz death scene might look like and i was imagining a possible scenario in my head of how it might play out … im so sick over this rn
because like … i love all the posts and writings about kanej all grown up with a family and stuff but. realistically, there is no way kaz dirtyhands brekker is surviving past twenty five. like … i know no one wants to hear this but. there is simply no way.
the gang lifestyle is so high risk, and if there’s one thing that we know about kaz, it’s that he’s literally incapable of stopping. and inej knows this, and she loves him despite it, but she must know that losing him is a possibility.
and i don’t think it would be grand, i don’t think it would be going out guns blazing AS MUCH AS IT HURTS TO SAY. because kaz really isn’t impulsive, he isn’t reckless like that. when it’s his time, i think not only does he see it coming, but he accepts it.
and inej is furious with him because how dare he. kaz always has a trick, or a reveal, or some kind of plot twist that pulls them all out in the nick of time, but something in his eyes today looked different, and she didn’t know what it was until it was too late.
His voice was a whisper, barely audible over the fighting all around them. That familiar rasp that always seemed to part the noise in whatever room they were in, now fought to be heard over the chaos.
“It’s ok.” And it wasn’t ok, but for a moment, Inej could pretend that it was. She could pretend for him.
That is all, goodnight.

Pekka: You’re really campaigning for asshole of the year, aren’t you?
Kaz: As defending champion, are you nervous?
todays wordle is so soc core
if Leigh does soc3 can it just be Inej coming and going from trips and Kaz trying to admit his feelings out loud. Just that for 300 pages.
Imagine a Kaz inner dialogue where he’s finally accepted the fact that he’s in love with Inej. Or an outer one where he accidentally admits it to Jesper while theyre tipsy and Inej is gone. and whenever she comes back he tries to hold her hand like he mangaged on the dock. AGGGGG
He works up the courage to ask to braid her hair for her. He puts her bandana on for her cuz she’s a pirate now duh. She cuts HIS HAIR for him. They fall asleep in the Slat with their pinkies touching. He takes her out for waffles. He makes her breakfast.
Kaz finally tells Inej that he likes her laugh in the most awkward way imaginable. Kaz finally tells Inej why he can’t stomach touching people but wants to overcome it FOR HER.
The other crows know what’s up cuz these two cant stop stealing glances at each other and holding hands under the goddamn dinner table.
LEIGH PLEASE
i would die. kanej deserves their MOMENT PLS
text: please, my darling inej, treasure of my heart, won’t you do me the honor of acquiring me a new hat?
pekka rollins: we’ve made a map of all the possible places kaz brekker could be hiding.
van eck:
van eck: this is just a map of ketterdam.
pekka rollins: yeah we have no idea where he is.
Hey, when y’all are out there patting yourselves on the back for writing LGBT+ romances, it would be nice if you shut up about “het romance” and a.) stop implying the interests of heterosexual women are inferior because they are also a group that’s historically been long denied sexual agency, b.) remember that the single largest demographic in the LGBT+ community is bisexual women, which means we are also reading and consuming wlm content. That doesn’t make us fucking het.
There are conversations to be had about some of the gendered ideas that seep into those books, but some of y’all ready need to learn to watch your mouths with this shit. Do not pretend problematic stuff can’t exist in non-straight romance, too. Nothing turns me off faster from an LGBT+ author than them using that language. Miss me with that bullshit. You don’t get to tell people what they read isn’t valid.
THIS. i feel like a huge problem over a lot of writing platforms is 1. people discrediting wlm ships & writings but 2. an even larger problem is authors and people in general pretending that a queer ship can do no wrong, that all representation is good representation which absolutely is not the case. there are a lot of queer ships in mainstream media that people love that are incredibly problematic, whether it be how the characters are portrayed together or separately, or both! like pls, let’s stop pretending that all queer ships (especially mlm) are well written.
jesper: this soup is too bland. if i had to rate this, i’d give it a three-
wylan: i made it for you myself.
jesper: - out of three points. good job wylan.
Take Me to Church has such huge Kanej vibes. That is Kaz Brekker speaking there. FUCK the saints. Inej is my religion.
