Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, on Sept 20th & much of the island is STILL without electricity or clean water. My great aunt in Peñuelas JUST got power this week (Dec 4)... she told me,”No te preocupes por nosotros sobrina... si llega el momento de que no tenemos, inventamos.” Translation: “Don’t worry about us. If a time comes where we don’t have it, we make it up (improvise).” Luckily she had access to clean water & a solar panel the past few months. That’s not everyone’s story & many are still without. This video shows the resilience and strength of every Boricua I’ve ever known, old, young, male or female. We can be many things, but lazy isn’t one of them. The news may not see ratings in reporting the story, but my people are still without electricity... they are never without power. 🇵🇷✨ #puertoricoselevanta #boricua #indigenous #boricuawomen #mysuperpower #community #family #islandlife #puertoricostrong #rp @fiercebymitu (at Peñuelas, Puerto Rico)
