There's a good chance that Bansai is neurodivergent in some way, most likely autistic.

He could hear the music of people's souls. He takes the finger laser joke seriously. He makes it a life motto of his to do things according to beats and timing, and he often ignores social conventions and mores (impromptu shamisen-playing in the middle of an execution ground "I think it's basic courtesy to stay quiet during a performance").

There's a good chance that his headphones and shades aren't merely accessories, but accommodations. Maybe he has sensitive eyes and ears.

And you realize that Shinsuke likes Bansai in spite of his oddities. He doesn't tell Bansai to take off his headphones when speaking to him. He doesn't mind when Bansai takes his liberty to leave or do things his own way. Who knows, maybe Shinsuke is the one to get Bansai the accommodations, since Bansai only starts wearing them after knowing Shinsuke.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. One of the greatest fantasy shounen anime, ever. In the beginning I was quite sceptical on watching it, because I really don’t like long anime series but now I regret I didn’t watch it earlier. Definitely a must watch for everyone. The story is so great, the music is superb and the animation is pretty neat. Amestris is the country that serves as the main setting of Fullmetal Alchemist. Amestris is composed by several former nations, quite diverse in culture and religion. The largest city in Amestris is Central City which has a radial urban plan and kinda reminds me of Palmanova town in Italy. The buildings are plain and organised, typical for 19th century.
